Do you have pain with the bloating? If yes, you might want to experiment with going a few days without gluten to see if you might have a gluten intolerance -- when you reintroduce it, if you have a really dramatic reaction (ie worse symptoms) i'd say you are gluten intolerant.

if you don't have pain, i'd say it's sort of like me with milk... if i have too much, i feel uncomfortable, so i try to limit the dose but don't consider a food i " can't " have -- i just have smaller portions.

I still tend to crave carbs too, and I know I don't feel my best after them. I'm working on the thing someone posted a few days ago about thinking with my stomach and not my head. Not easy!

Happens to me sometimes. I think it's just the delay in feeling full. (You know how they say with diets that it takes 20 minutes for your body to register fullness). Carbs, in particular, seem to kind of keep expanding when they hit your stomach. So you stop at a five, but once they've expanded, now you're at a 6 or 7. Not surprising. You might want to try stopping at 4 and waiting 20 or 30 minutes to see how you feel. And if you're still hungry, you can have more.

Thanks to both of you Abbey and Josie for the comments and help. I don't have

pain with the bloating, and I'm thinking to try going with the smaller portion

first and see how that works out. I really don't want to start with the

restricting thing again, but if I have to I will do the gluten test you spoke

of. The way you described your feeling when you have too much milk as being

uncomfortable kind of fits the way I feel with the starches. Maybe my body does

need to get used to them ... I really did not eat a lot of bread etc before. As

Josie said in her post, that the little darlings expand a bit and I am probably

stopping too late. Still learning, but I have to say, the way I feel on this is

worth the time and effort to get it right.

Thanks for your help ladies!
