Guest guest
It sounds like you're dealing with Liberty Medical. We've just had a little discussion about them! IN fact, I called them to inquire about getting Prodigy supplies from them recently, and was told Prodigy was no longer manufacturing meters or strips. Which is apparently completely untrue. Ruth Hogue, a member of this list, is connected with Prodigy, or DDI, and we go to her for the real answers. She stated that they are presently trying to get re-established with Liberty Medical. You can also try other companies that provide Prodigy supplies. I'll mention the one I use, and others will tell you who they use. I use Advanced Diabetic Solutions, out of Georgia. Advanced Diabetic Solutions 1- As far as what you pay, that depends. I don't pay anything. I am on Medicare, and I have a Part-d supplemental insurance plan. The insurance policy usually says something about your co-pay, something maybe like 0-15%, but my experience has been that the supplier (ADS in my case) writes this off, and I pay nothing. So, ask your supplier, and see what happens. I just joined the group, and I hope someone can help me. My insurance provider just signed me up with a mail order company to get my diabetic supplies by mail. I do not have Medicaid or Medicare. I have been paying for all of this stuff myself, and it is getting to expensive to do that. The problem is I have a Prodigy Voice, and it is working just fine. But the mail order company is insisting that they send me the Embrace glucometer. They are telling me that since I won't be able to set the time and date myself, that they will send me a new meter every the time changes. I personally think that is ridiculous. I asked if they could get me the Prodigy Voice strips, and they said no. I need to know what I need to do and where to go from here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Arlene
Guest guest
And as far as the Embrace meter, the consensus seems to be that it offers only limited audible output. So, as I think you suspected, stay away from it if you want to be able to operate your meter independently. Guest guest
No, it is a company called Medcare. They told me that the Prodigy Voice wasn't being made any more, and that the Embrace was the upgrade of the Prodigy Voice. Guest guest
That is what I told them, and they just don't get it. Their answer is to send me a new meter every time the time changes, and that way the time and date will be correct. Totally ridiculous.
