Glad to have you with us.  I think we all struggle and feel lost at times.  I think I put on a lot of weight too but do not weigh myself or even let the doctor do it.  I even went and bought larger size clothes and then felt a lot better. it was such a relief to have clothes that didn't hurt but felt loose and comfortable.  The heck with fashion statements.  Keep focusing on the positive.  When I think of how many years I was on the diet yo-yo I gently remind myself that it will take time to relearn how to eat intuitively.  Be gentle with yourself. Keep posting. Glad you have a therapist.  Sandy

Hi Everyone!

I'm Caroline, 30yo, full time student. After privately struggling with an eating disorder for most of my life, I recently sought treatment and my therapist suggested I try Intuitive Eating. I have a horrible history of dieting and then rebelling, so this is a whole new train of thought for me. I've been trying it for a couple months, but feel a bit lost in my journey. Unfortunately being a student means low funds, so I can't see my therapist for a few weeks, so I am so glad to have found this group to get some support. I have put on quite a bit of weight since starting this new chapter of my life, and it is taking a toll on me mentally. I'm trying very hard to recognize and appreciate the good changes in my life, instead of focusing on the negative. I'm hoping things will balance out over time. Plus I need to keep reminding myself I'm very new to this, and permanent change takes time! Anyway, I'm happy to be here and I think having others to talk to will keep me more hopeful. I look forward to getting to know you guys!

Hi and Welcome Caroline! I know a lot about how you feel. I've never had an eating disorder, but do struggle with body image and weight gain. It's hard to get over ingrained obsession with thinness and see the successes along with what we would have viewed in the past as failures. I'm sorry I don't have good help to offer, but can give a lot of support and commiseration. - Casey-- Sent from my iPhone
