Guest guest
I too live in Canada and have the oracle meter and it works well, there is no problem getting strips. as the Canadian diabetes association for assistance getting this. meeters. Hi all: It has been a long time since I was on the list at least participating. I have had a terrible three years. Anyways on to the subject. I have an acuecheck machine with the voice mate 2. I have found it the best meeter I have ever tried. The voice is a human voice not a computer voice. Very clear. Also I was able to set up everything myself and I didn't need any sighted asistance at all. Wonderful. It is working very well right now but I got a very unwelcome phone call today. They called me and said that it was discontinued and they are no longer supporting it at all. I am hoping that I can still get strips and stuff. Can anyone tell me about a good meeter that allows me to be independant as I am now? I am living in Canada so I will of course need one that is available there. I am in the midst of getting my sugar back under control. I had so many things going on in the last three years that I have not been consintrating on my sugar as I should. When my husband was sick I was caring for him at home. I lost him though on August the eighth 2010. Then this year just about one hear later, I lost my step dad to bladder cancer. Now just three months later, I lost my mother. She had a stroke and lived for a week after, but she died on November fifteenth. This has just been awful and I have been suffering from deep deepression. It is terrible to say, but I went through a period where I really didn't care what happened anymore. Especially after died. i really am trying to get my a1c back down. It was up to ten at one time and just last week when I was tested I had it down to 7.3. I am really working hard now on my diet. I hope all of you have a merry merry Christmas and that you will have a Happy New Year. yesterday is history. Tomorrow a mystery. Today is a gift, that is why it is called the present. Guest guest
Hi : Do you know if it does everything the acuecheck did? Can you get it to repeat what your blood sugar was? Can you get the averages for two weeks or a month? Does it have the time and date on it? Can I set it up myself? Sorry for all the questions. I am so upset that this machine is discontinued. It was just right for me. You could even keep track of your insulin and your carb intake. yesterday is history. Tomorrow a mystery. Today is a gift, that is why it is called the present. meeters. Guest guest
Sorry for stepping in here, but , I am afraid that the answer is no, to all of your question! I have one, and all it does, is to give you the reading once, and can not repeat! I had the Accuchek also, and there is no comparison! Unfortunately, this is the only one that I am aware of, that is available in Canada! One huge advantage, is that it is free with your first pack of strips! Were you told that the whole system is not going to be made any more, or only the voice box? I wish that they would make their other meter accessible! meeters. Guest guest
The Solo V2 is a completely audible meter designed for the blind, but I don't know of the availability of strips in Canada. I understand Prodigy Voice meters and strips are available at Wal-Mart and other local stores. Let me know if you find out if either the Solo or Prodigy Voice are covered in CA. Both these meters have audio feed-back equivalent to your Voicemate. Dave " ...In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. " [ 16:33] meeters. Guest guest
Hello, , Your recent difficulties boggle my mind and I just put you on my heroes list for working on getting your blood sugar under control. This indicates your commitment to life despite all your losses. Carry on. I use a talking meter from E77 Electronics in Hungary, which is widely available in Europe. I will see if they distribute in Canada or if they would sell to you directly. They don't have a distributor where I am but sell to me directly.
