Guest guest Posted December 1, 2010 Report Share Posted December 1, 2010 Thanks for sharing that - it was very nicely put.Barb Mastering the Facets of Intuitive Eating Hi All,I met with my IE nutritionist today and she gave me a wonderful handout that I thought I share the contents of: Title: "Mastering the Facets of Intuitive Eating"Facets at the core:- Reliable about feeding myself a verity of enjoyable foods- Unconditional permission to eat- Honor body signals of hunger and satietySupportive facets:- Emotional coping skills- Body respect- Challenge diet thinking- Joyful body movement- Positive, empowering self talkI also just got off the phone with a friend of mine who recently has lost a lot of weight (I can barely recognize her now!) and she had never heard of IE, but all the things she described were IE!!!! She had NO diet, in fact, she said she didn't believe in them. She just accepted herself, loved herself and found other ways to deal with her emotions, only ate foods she truly enjoyed, savored them, stopped eating when she was satisfied, got off the couch and got moving and did things she enjoyed, respected her body, and practiced good hunger management by carrying snacks. WOW! When I told her about IE and that there are books on this and groups of people trying to do what she just did, she was blown away! I have also been noticing other people in my life who practice IE without knowing it. My mom for one has never had weight issues and the more I observe her, the more I see that she is truly following IE!
