Guest guest
, I must say that I've received lots of good support and information via this group, and I'm sure that you will too Sometimes it doesn't take a lot of money, but I've found I've got to be " on it " (aware and working with the rosacea/breaking out) 100% of the time.....not irritating my poor face further, but just staying with treatments that work for me--I couldn't say which treatments would work for you, but at least in this support group, you can get lots of good ideas for help My best to you, Carol Gibson wrote: > > Hi Everyone, > > I just joined a few hours ago, and already I've had to change to > Daily digest because of all the emails lol. > A few weeks ago I came across a website, with photo's, about > cea. Guest guest
Cari, I had just moved to California when Brown Simpson was murdered. We were watching the suv go down the freeway on the TV just to watch him go right by our house. The thing that peeved me about that is, how many of us do you think would be allowed to 'turn ourselves in'... what a joke. 'Yes, you are a suspect in a murder case so when you feel like it, would you mind coming down to the police station, you know, when it is convenient for you.....'. I bet you could find some sicko to buy that rookie card for a lot of money. You should go on ebay and just see what people pay for things. It is amazing to me. Although, I have gotten some really great deals on there too. Anyways, I am still feeling crappy. My feet are still swollen and I can't lay down to sleep so I have been trying to sleep in my comfy chair. Needless to say, I can't get completely comfortable so I keep waking up. That doesn't do much for me to get better. I gotta go, Brody has school in 40 minutes and neither one of us are dressed or ready to go!!! Take care! Guest guest
Jen, I remember you and the crisis that your daughter went through some time ago. I followed her story with great interest because I also used homeopathics and the keto diet with my daughter. I have often wondered how things worked out for you guys. Though my daughter is no longer on the diet, I still lurk on this list because I continue to learn from all the postings. I do not know of a list that supports parents of children with special needs who practice alternative health, but would be interested to know if you find one. I'd like to chat with you about alternative treatments either through this list or privately. Guest guest
Sandy, Oh yes, the crisis. That was certainly terrifying. Thank goodness she is still here and just as sweet as ever:o) I would love to email you off-list. I'd love to know what you have done homeopathically and what kind of success you are having. Here's my email: ketomommie@... Guest guest
You are more than welcome as far as I'm concerned, and I look forward to learning more about what you have tried. There is also an epilepsy kids list that you might find interesting, as well as another list I used to be on that was for people w/ seizures who used alternative treatments....can't remember the name but I will try to get it to you.... Barb Swoyer, Jake's mom (still here, still on the diet) hello Hi everyone, I was a member of this list while my daughter Marissa was on the diet. We did it for almost 2 years with good success. Marissa is no longer on the diet and does still have seizures, but drastically less than she used to. We deal with seizures homeopathically and have been taking Marissa for accupuncture treatments for 4 months now. So the reason I am here is that I remember there were a lot of people doing alternative treatments on this list. And I feel as though I am floundering around all alone because Marissa does not take any drugs ( the exception is diastat, which we avoid unless absolutely necessary). Most people think I'm a complete nut. You know, they just nod and smile and hope I will go away. So does anyone know of a list that supports parents of children with special needs that practice alternative health? If not can I hang out here a little? I'm sure I can help with keto questions as well. Peace~ Jen PS Hi Nan! <waving> remember me?
Guest guest
Sandy & Jen, I wouldn’t mind if you shared your experiences with the keto group. If you don’t mind, I would prefer that you would share with all of us. Many of us (perhaps most or all of us) do some type of altenative or sleuthing measure along with the keto diet. Thanks! Guest guest
Rhonda, OK. That would be fine with me. I would also love to hear all the alternative things other people are doing. Sandy? Guest guest
> Is this a yeast-free group?? , Dietary yeast is not permitted on SCD. Many autism children have issues with yeast overgrowth in their bodies and our parents will comment further on their experiences and protocols I am sure. If yeast within is a problem, use of honey and fruit can be moderated until some healing takes place but we don't suggest eliminating these foods as they are a valuable source of mono-saccharide carbohydrates. Some parents have opted for the use of ati-fungals to arrest yeast overgrowth as well. To learn more about SCD please see the websites mentioned below and consider reading " Breaking the Vicious Cycle " (BTVC) by Elaine Gottschall, which explains the diet and the science behind it. http://www.pecanbread.com/ http://breakingtheviciouscycle.info/ Carol F. Guest guest
My name is Hope. Thank you for letting me subscribe to this group. I feel like I am at a crossroads, and the only way to get out is to let go. My relationship with food has been timultuous and I long to begin a new era with a different relationship with food. I have had disordered thinking about food and body image since I was a kid and I was put in a foster home. My foster mother would negate my body with crazy comments like 'my head was too big for my body' and she forbid me to have sweets of any kind because I was too fat. I am not revealing this information for sympathy; I am stating an origin of a disordered way of looking at food and my life. Before the home, I was a relatively thin kid with a healthy relationship with food. Since those experiences; however, I have been on a dieting and binging ferris wheel of eating that I would now like to get off of. I would like to gain support from those of you out there who have mastered the art of eating intuitively; that is, eating to fuel your body, not abuse it. Thank you for reading. Hope
Guest guest
Glad to have you with us, Keri! I hope that the group will be helpful for you. I look forward to learning more about you and your IE journey. All the best, AbbyIE since 11/08  Hi, I'm new to the group today - my name is Keri & I live on the Northern California coast with my hubby & two sons (ages 8 and 2 1/2) - also I work full time outside the home. I've read several of Geneen Roth's books over the years (Feeding the Hungry Heart, When Food is Love, Why Weight & Woman Food & God) & also McKenna's book. I have a mild history with bulimia & binge eating disorder - but the bulimia is not something that I struggle with very often now. I really just want to feel like food & eating doesn't have so much power over me & I want to feel good in my own skin (if that makes sense). I've struggled with my weight/body image since I was about 10 or 11 - most recently I gained weight with the pregnancy of my 2 year old and I haven't managed to lose it yet (around 25 lbs). I know the key to not overeating and being at my healthy weight is to feed my body when I am hungry and stop eating when my body is full - it has just been easier said than done for me lately. I have not been exercising at all lately and I know that needs to change. Anyway - just wanted to introduce myself. Happy to be here, ~Keri
Guest guest
Welcome Keri. It seems to me that anorexia and obesity are 2 sides of the same coin - both are based on body image which is an EXternal driven thing. IE is based on INternal drivers - one's own body as indicator for physical hunger and needs. Unfortunately we humans let our heads drive the show when we should be responding to our stomachs and/or general body messages. But since emotions are a head trip, those can overrun the subtle feedback of the rest of the body. The biggest challenge most of us face with IE is getting back in touch with what our own bodies have to 'say' as well as returning the power of food back over to ourselves. And trusting ourselves is another big step in that process. BEST wishes in getting what you need - for and by your own dear self. Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > Hi, > I'm new to the group today - my name is Keri & I live on the Northern California coast with my hubby & two sons (ages 8 and 2 1/2) - also I work full time outside the home. > I've read several of Geneen Roth's books over the years (Feeding the Hungry Heart, When Food is Love, Why Weight & Woman Food & God) & also McKenna's book.
