Guest guest
Compared to my list of flaws, you're practically perfect! I don't have time just now to list mine, but I'll do a Reader's Digest Condensed Version later. And yes, its amazing, but even with all my flaws there are people who still like me and want to spend time with me, even though my house isn't always perfectly neat (clean, but cluttered) and my furniture isn't new and the appetizers are home-made (tasty but inexpensive.) I aim for gatherings at my home to feel " warm and inviting, friendly, casual and comfortable " and that seems to be " good enough " . -Annie > > One of our " sisters " here gave me this idea. I've been working on the concept of having a balanced view of my flaws. In order to make them more " normal " and less " monster, " I'm going to list some of mine in front of a safe, accepting group of people. > > Please add your own! Guest guest
Right on! My kitchen is very clean and neat, my bathrooms are very clean and neat, the living room is clean (everywhere my friends/guests will be is nice and clean) but there's " stuff " accumulating (boxes, extra cushions, futons, camping stuff) behind the sofas. Its the hallways to the bedrooms and the bedrooms themselves and my office/studio (where I work) and the closets that are starting to worry me. I need to commit regular times to do some heavy-duty organizing, sorting, and tossing away of " stuff " that I do not use and do not need. I'll make a pile of it and call the Salvation Army to come pick it up. It'll be so nice to pare down the " stuff " . I used to rent a storage shed at one of those " U-Store-It " kinds of places, but that started getting VERY expensive. I had to bring the " stuff " back home. I DO NOT want to become one of those " hoarder " people, that's just NOT where I want to be, but its scary that I seem to be heading in that direction. Ack!! Noooo!!! I did get rid of a pile of about 60 old National Geographics, finally. I gave them to the local library! The librarians said that kids really get a lot of use out of those old mags, they cut out the pics for their school projects; so, cool! -Annie > > > > > > One of our " sisters " here gave me this idea. Guest guest
I found that a lot of the " flaws " nada pointed out that I had were nonexistent. Or if they were " bad " they were nothing out of the ordinary. I always got in trouble for my " bad mouth " or my.... not saying anything (when I was trying to be invisible so nada couldn't say I said something bad!). Not that I really believed I ever was a bad child. I was a really good child-- nada's twisted head couldn't accept it. I perpetually say " I'm sorry " now. Constantly. yikes. And also I think many of the " flaws " are just personality traits or habits or general skills we are not automatically good at. People come with flaws. Nadas are always projecting themselves on their children anyway--so half the time your " flaws " are actually theirs. Karla, your " flaws " (which are, in my mind, just personality traits or habits or personal enjoyments etc) are entirely normal!! - Cvidz - Steph > > One of our " sisters " here gave me this idea. Guest guest
Karla, Normal is highly overrated, nor am I an expert on what it may be. But here is my take on your list. 1. Your house is clean 2 days a week. 2. Sometimes you refrain from swearing in front of your Children 3. Pooooooop corn. mmmmmmm. Oh sorry. 4. A majority of women I know are less than meticulous about their cars. And half the men I know, tho as a whole we do a bit better. 5. As Tevye said, its no shame to be poor. But its no great honor either. 6. Well there are artsy people, like me. And there is the rest of the world. You poor suckers. 7. Politics bores a lot of people, except political junkies, like me. 8. Someday, you won t remember what you ate for breakfast. Don t worry about current events. 9. As to the next two, it is a valuable life skill to learn to pick your fights. Fight the ones that are worth fighting, not the ones you are sure you can win. 10. There is a great benefit in constructively doing nothing. Think, the Eureka principle. 11. First attempt, huh? Success is never final, failure is never fatal. It is courage, courage, courage that matters. 12. We have that inner voice saying I m not worthy. It comes with the territory. 13. It s 3 in the morning, don t whine to me about bad sleep schedules. LOL Normal, is a town in Illinois. Doug >
Guest guest
I have the same " flaws " as you: > > -My house, 6 days out of the week is a wreck. Saturday (or 10 minutes before visitors arrive) is tidying day. > -I swear in front of everyone. I blame it on working in the mines. > -I eat far too much cake, drink too much wine and LOVE food. > -I washed my last car once a year. I now have a new one that I wash religiously, but that will wear off soon! > -I'm broke a lot - but I budget for it, so its all good. > -I am a decorating nazi. Its my way or the highway. > -Anyone who is interested in politics bores me. > -I dont what's going with current events. I prefer to play with the dog than watch the news. > -There is nothing wrong with not wanting to fight - you just have to have an alternative that leaves you still feeling in control. > -I fight, sometimes, when I should blow it off. Dont we all. > -I waste time sometimes, but it takes a lot of effort and I really have to try ;] > -I flunked out of college in my first year, and now am considering going back to do a masters. Noone ever asks how you did in the first year anyway. Or the last year for that matter. > -People will like you whether you want them to or not - and the ones that dont are probably not the type of people youd enjoy having as friends anyway. Life has a way of matching you up with similar people. > -I don't always have a healthy sleep schedule because I stay up ruminating. I wish I was playing computer games instead, it would be more constructive ;] > One of the best peices of advice I was ever given was: " Dont worry what people think. They dont do it often.
