Guest guest
Hello, Becky, We've " chatted " off line, but welcome again! I've been a type 1 for 47 years (since age 11), but there are lots of type 2's on the list. A couple of things you need to tell us, so we can offer advice, include, what do you know about eating nutritionally, do you have a talking blood glucose testing meter (such as the Prodigy Voice), and are you otherwise fairly healthy? You can tell us as little, or as much as you wish. We're a very personal group around here, and I think it's because both blindness/visual impairments and the diabetes give us a unique common bond. Looking forward to helping out however we can. Dave " ...In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. Guest guest
Hello , My blood sugars have been going from about 120 to 170 at the most since he put me on two of them. Guest guest
Tiredness can be symptomatic of poor control. But there are many other indicators that point to poor control. The best thing to do is get a meter and track your blood sugars. It's a foreign task for you to perform, but one you'll need to get used to doing. As a diabetic, your meter will be your most important aid, short of your meds. Without it, you won't know how effective your medications are, and/or how well your meal planning and other lifestyle adjustments are doing. As someone else mentioned, you won't get all this down in a couple days. Most diabetics take months, even years to adjust, especially adults who develop diabetes. It's a big change, so don't minimize it either. If you want to minimize diabetic complications, and if you want to live a healthy life, which you can do, you'll need to pay attention to a few basic, but demanding at times, rules. Guest guest
That is better Laurel, but could be a bit lower. Do your sugars run higher after meals? There is a drug called Prandin tat lowers BG after eating, but it also can cause low blood sugars. From everything I have heard from people who take it, they mostly use it when they know they are going to eat higher than normal load of carbs.
