Guest guest
Hi , I live in Tulsa and am being treated by an excellent endocrinologist who specializes in diabetic care. I would never use a general practitioner for my diabetes. If you want, I'll send you my doctor's name and phone number. Guest guest
Testing for sugar in the urine is an antiquated test. It's sad to hear that vets are subjected to something this rudimentary. There must be some way you can seee a better doctor, if not an endocrinologist. IF you're being told there are no doctors, or you believe that, change your approach and thinking. Even good doctors will tend to whisk their patients along in their prescribed manner. Patients, that's you, need to say, " Woe, hold it. Stop. I'm not getting this. " Remember, you're the customer. And if more doctors were reminded of this, perhaps they'd provide a higher level of care. Dave " ...In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. Guest guest
Thanks, But they have already labled me as a malcontent just for trying to take part in my diabetic care. It would take to long to relate the years of neglect and you would get tired of listening and i would get bored. They also did an a1c 6.8  Thanks again S. ________________________________ To: blind-diabetics Sent: Wednesday, December 14, 2011 1:33 PM Subject: Re: Sugar in Urine  Testing for sugar in the urine is an antiquated test. Guest guest
I tried to find a diabetic doctor when I had insurance all over this part of NE Oklahoma but they just seem to tell me this and that. I went to Tulsa to the doctor and after he examined me he told me quote " I don't want to step on the toes of the doctor at the VA. Guest guest
I find it hard to believe. Not to say I don't believe you! How can professionals have such a cavalier attitude? Is Is this something those of us who aren't vets shielded from? It just doesn't sound believable, but I'll trust what you say and leave it at that. Dave " ...In this world you will have trouble. Guest guest
Unfortunately that is not strange. Many docs are afraid of stepping on the toes of another doc. I have a friend who goes to the VA here in S. CA and he was able to ask for another doctor. _____ From: blind-diabetics [mailto:blind-diabetics ] On Behalf Of S. Guest guest
Hi , My endocrinologist is: Dr. Cristin Bruns Oklahoma Heart Institute 9228 S Mingo Rd. Suite 200 Tulsa, OK 74133 Phone: Don't be misled by the heart institute stuff. she is an endocrinologist specializing in diabetes, not a cardiologist. She did, however, send me down the hall for a stress test on a treadmill as well as over to a podiatrist to get my feet checked. She also always checks my A1C, my cholesterol, my weight, my kidney function, and all of that usual stuff. HTH, Mark Sugar in Urine Good Morning, I went to my regular Veterans checkup at the Va .
