Guest guest
What a great idea, McKella! I was just eating pepperoni pizza for dinner and I was really trying to savor it, because I'm a pizza fiend and I can plow through three slices, feel stuffed but still want more. Then I got a weird idea: I flipped the slice upside down! The cheese and pepperoni would touch my tongue first and stay there as I chewed. I'm never eating pizza right side up again! I know this won't work with some pizzas, because the toppings will slide right off, but experiment. I felt satisfied after one medium-size slice and a side of sliced peppers and cucumbers. I'm going to try this trick with other things that have flavorful toppings, like buttered toast. Kinda weird, but it works for me. I also had a stressful day at work (I work with kids, 'nuff said) and I made sure to listen to soothing music in my car on the way home, and I took time to slice veggies, pet my cat, kiss my husband, breathe, and say a prayer before I dove into the pizza. I feel much better and I stayed present through my whole meal! My small victories are getting closer together, I think I'm finally getting the hang of this. McKella -- Abigail C. Guest guest
Hi McKella, I love the idea of flipping the pizza over to get more satisfaction from it; great idea and also the cucumbers and peppers were a great idea. When I have a food I love like chicken parm I have veggies or salad with it, sometimes both, because then I find I am very satisfied and have eaten a normal amount that's not deprivational. It sounds like a terrific victory for you! Guest guest
Wow! I L-O-V-E this!! It reminds me of how sometimes, when I think I'm craving pizza - what I'm really craving is the cheese....so I just melt a bunch of cheese in a skillet on the stove, and I only need a little bit....rather than the entire pizza! It's all about staying conscious and aware!! Re: Silly little tip, and minor victories What a great idea, McKella! " I, to, find that if I force myself to relax before (and after if time permits) a meal, I feel much better!!! You did 6 different things to center and relax yourself before the meal. GOOD JOB! --
