Guest guest
this title is my attempt at humor for the personal amusement park that is VERTIGO! Can't tell you the last post I read, I think the last digest I read included Jon and Teri's update. I have scanned a couple times as I popped in. I posted a couple pretty pics I took on my birthday outing. Happy Birthday all my fellow Cancer's. I got online yesterday after suspecting I was suffering from Vertigo. Yes, Z. I thought of you. I have never felt anything like this ever. I had the room spin big time the initial time. The 2nd time the room pitched and I had to grab the sink and almost called out to my Dad. I convinced myself I would be fine and just take it easy at the Y. I wanted to go workout because I hadn't been there in a week and I'm going to have my best friend and her kids in town next week. Also, I needed to do my monthly weigh-in for pre- transplant home rehab. I got to the class to do Core strengthening and just tried to totally take it easy. I even opted out of some paired up activities w/ the medicine ball as they are dizzying. I ended up w/ the sensation of falling from 10 feet up rather than the 10 inches up from the floor. I reached out to grab the floor and actually yelled out for help. I knocked my oxygen off and had to grab it w/ the other hand. As scary as this was I came home read stuff online and thought well I'm not sweating and had no nausea just the feeling of movement and spinning. It was so different from feeling faint or dizzy or lightheaded or too little food or too much coffee. I sat and took it easy for 2 hours and had my Dad drive me to my hair appointment. I knew this was a bit crazy as I'd have to move in ways that might bring this on, but figured as long as I took it slow I'd be ok. We started w/ the brow wax (before the hair) and when I sat up (even though I did it slow and explained the entire morning beforehand to my friend and fellow Y member) the room started to spin, then it got worse and worse no matter what. Eventually, I was able to move to a sofa in a different room. I was sweating like crazy. I had to call out for Val and was finally able to call my Dad to come get me. I called my pulmo who is out of the office til Tuesday. Called my primary who was able to get me in and called to meet me at home to take me to the doc. My Dad arrived and Val's mother who luckily came in went out to the car to watch and distract the kids. I couldn't move, I was spinning and pitching and sweating and finally they were trying to move me to the car and I said oh, I'm gonna be sick and they sat me back down and got me the trash bag. Doc said fluid in my right side/ear and virus and some nasal spray and anti-vert (which is no longer prescription it turns out just now) so it's Bonine or Dramamine. I'm to take it easy, no sudden moves, everything at snails move after settling. I had a tough night and tough day and besides it all I'm annoyed at being this laid up. I told my doc and this is God having a really, really good laugh... I said you take this type A girl, make me short of breath, make me move slow, tie me to a leash and machines and if that isn't enough now I can't even make a quick movement of a single body part... don't you dare roll over, stand up or even look any direction fast. Well, the computer is even dizzying so I'm off. Kerry 37 IPF '01 S. IN
