Hi Dana,

I'd take it as a very good sign that this is going to be your month!

It must feel good to know you are having your top choice. It sounds

like your guy was in very high demand!

It makes me wonder how much the men get paid for their little

spermies.

That is so cool that you got the donor you wanted. This has to be

good news. I don;t know enough about the HCG shot to add anymore

info. I'm sending you lots of ++++++++++++++thoughts this cycle.

Dana,

What a whirlwind of emotions. That's what this whole ttc process

brings us. Anyhow, I think it's a great sign that you got your #1

donor and 3 couples have been successful with him. Good luck this

month!

I hope the HSG does work for you. When I found out I had a tubal

problem I was so scared of IVF. I know its still early for me, but

its the best thing I ever did. I wish I did it last year. I am sad

about not being able to ttc naturally.

Hopefully you wont have to worry about any of that. I hope you don't

need the surgery. Like you said you could have had that 5 months ago.

Just look ahead to the future and the good things ahead.

Pam,

Thanks, I hope you are right. I don't think I'd be so scared of IVF

if I knew for sure that that's what my plan is. Afterall, I've known

3 people in the past month for whom it has been successful. And

also, it's more of a sure thing than ttc naturally. I've wasted so

much time already and it would be nice to " cut to the chase. "

But, I think not knowing what approach I'm taking is what is driving

me crazy. Does that make sense? My RE hasn't even mentioned IVF,

and here this gyne was making it sound like it's probably my best

option. He mentioned the risks of another ep. And the whole concept

of him being able to feel that mass through the inside (though the

pelvic exam) really kind of made this sink in. Yuck.

Thats so weird that your gyn is the more aggresive one. My gyn wasn't

at all. After my ep my gyn wanted me to try Clomid again. During the

3 months I did my dh and I went to this Q & A session for this IF

clinic. I talked to one of the dr's after about my ep and my HSG. He

basically told me I had tubal disease. It was like a slap in the

face. I was still in denial but decided to move on to the RE. I ended

up going to a different clinic. Which I am happier about the choice I

made. I could have gone right to IVF last June after meeting with my

RE. But we decided to do surgery first and then the 2 IUI's. You have

to do what you think is right first. I know its hard though. I now

think back and if I didn't do the two IUI's maybe we would not have

known about my lining problem and that I stim easily. IVF is a lot of

money to be figuring things out. So sometimes it seems like you are

going in the wrong direction but it is the right direction for a

reason.

sorry about what the new gyn told you. But I believe, NEVER give hope.... as

far as you know, you can still ttc naturally. Trust your RE and see where

it goes. You are in my prayers...

Hi Pam,

Well, I don't know if the gyne is actually more aggressive because he

doesn't know the particulars of my case (and isn't assigned to

treating me). But let's just say that after hearing about the ep, he

was far more blunt about talking IVF and risks of another ep than

were the people at the RE's office. It seems like their plan is

still clomid/natural ttc, pending HSG results. And maybe once I get

my HSG results, they'll start talking IVF too. With insurance, it

all boils down to money. What's the cheapest and least invasive

procedure--you know?

Before the ep, my regular gyne wasn't aggressive at all. She kept

telling me to try again--while the RE said " no, there's a problem

that needs fixing. "

Time will tell I guess. You're right--everything works out for a

reason.

Thanks--that's exactly what I intend to do. You are in my prayers as

well. I also think your remaining tube must be in pretty good shape,

given that your last pg was uterine.

I had one gyn once who was absolutely gorgeous! After two visits, I decided

to go back to the " grandfather " type guys. It just felt funny having this

gorgeous guy, whom I could easily fantasize about, down there.... besides

he wasn't a very good gyn (but he was great to look at!)

Why does she think you still have scarring? What kind of d and c problems did you have?

Cottle wrote:

Hello everyone

I had another appt with my consultant today and had a scan.

Although the lining is continuous and 4.5mm she said that it should be 5. My cervix is open and there is no congestion of blood so she cannot understand why I have missed the last 2 periods. Could just be the Ashermans she said. I was told that all of my scarring was removed and now I am told that it was just the scarring that joined the two walls that was removed.

She did say to me that they were putting off doing anymore D & C's and are telling patients to go home and see what happens when problems occur!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One for my Solicitors don't you think.

I had to have blood tests done for Menopause, Thyroid, hormone checks etc etc.

I am also being referred to another hospital with an Ashermans specialist now and there is no more that she can do for me.

So that is where I am --- told to TTC in March and now this.

When will this ever end

THanks for listening

Just a comment.....

"Could just be asherman's" that sounds like "could just be a common cold"! Why do these doctors try to minimize this so much?

Good luck kicking off the new year. I know how stressful it has the

potential to be. Take care of yourself. I officially start a new

job tomorrow. I'll be splitting my time between a high school and a

middle school doing intensive tutoring and small group instruction

with kids living in foster care. Although I'm excited about the job,

I would like for the first 6 weeks to be over already! I wish you

fun, manageable stress, and no migraines!

Hang in there....have you tried taking it at night instead of in the

Hope your headaches are gone soon! And we'll look forward to news of

Dear Gladys,

concerning taken estrogen I'm the one who's taking since 5 months only estrogen and not progesterone to try to build up my lining. In very simple words progesterone is the one giving "start" to endometrium take down and therefore to menstruation, but it is also connected to other endometrium growth factors. What I understood is that also doctors are unsure about progesterone activity and that they have different therapy protocol, in general they say that it is not convenient, for side effects given by estrogen as for instance bigger incidence of breast cancer, to take only estrogen for a long time without progesterone. I think the time span is about 6 / 8 months max. I will go on with only estrogen, but soon or later progesterone will be added.

Hope this helps

Gladys,

Glad to hear you have scheduled your surgery with Dr Palter for Sept.

9th. You only have one month to wait, and hopefully the time will

pass quickly for you. I remember waiting for surgery as well and it

seems like forever. The best news is that you are planning your

future and until the surgery is over, there is not much more you can

do except try to take good care of yourself.

I had surgery with Dr Palter on Aug 7th and I took the estrogen as

perscribed. I was not given the progestrone either, just as in your

case. He explained that some doctors like to give progest. to bring

on a withdrawal bleed from all of the estrogen, but he likes to get

the body working on its own immediately rather than forcing a bleed.

As you may have noticed, many women on the site talk about having

their first " natural " cycle post surgery, which means getting their

body to rid itself of the unused endometrium that has built up in

their uterus over the last cycle. Since there is no pregnancy, the

body has a period and bleeds. I am not 100% sure of all of this, but

I remember asking the group about this as well and felt similiar to

you since I wasn't sure why I wasn't perscribed the progesterone.

My surgery went great and I am feeling fine. I am still taking the

2.5 mg of estrogen everyday since the day of surgery. I will

continue this amount until sometime after my first sonohistogram,

which will be Sept. 20th (6 weeks post surgery). Dr Palter wants me

to send him a videotape of the test and then we will discuss either

lowering, increasing or stopping the amount of estrogen based on my

results, etc.

I hope you are doing well.

Penni,

Sorry about your bad day. I hope it gets better for you tomorrow. I

know what you mean about the medical bills and how crazy that whole

process can be. I had surgery in NY in August and am getting an

influx of bills daily. The hospital where the surgery was performed

filed some of the claims with the correct identification number to

collect my insurance and some claims were filed with incorrect

numbers. Not to mention that some of the side treatments are not

PPO's of my provider, like the anestisiologists, radiologists,

pathologists, etc so they won't even file my insurance and I won't

get the normal discount associated with being part of a group

network. FUN HUH???????????

Take care,

W
