We went threw the hurricanes of 2004, much happened in between, bottom line my home was totaled,had a lot of water and structural damage. My insurance waited 3 years and then filed bankruptcy. I never received help from any agency. Six months after the hurricanes my fiancee was already not getting up any longer. Doctors did not know what was happening. They said mold does not do anything to you. Their none support did not help. All I needed was a letter stating I could not be in here nor he in his. All the city had to do was condemn them both. We both became ill differently. Even when I got out of my home my insurance put me right back in. It is complicated how it all came about, however we now trapped here in my home by illness, he has lost his, no one can work. His insurance has not paid to this date, (attorneys fault) I have from toxic exposure MCS which is my bodies inability to eliminate toxins which our now being stored in my organs until organ failure. Medical system knows little to nothing about it. There is no cure and the best treatment is avoiding exposure to all toxins whether man made or chemical. The trapped part comes about because of the MCS and the fact that I have ILD to pair with it. There is nowhere I can seem to breathe. My home is 20 years old, which means it has off-gassed it's chemicals, I never used pesticides and it had not been painted since 2001 or so I believe. With MCS you cannot tolerate any of those. Those would be a serious threat to my life and his. His medical is in his brain Toxic Encephalitis. Neurological damage to the brain. His brain no longer goes into REM which is where you get your sleep. He does not rest. While this house is killing us, it is killing us slower than if we went somewhere else. Organ damage would be immediate basically because it is a poisoning that is happening to your body. While others like me have nomad lives running from place to place in their cars trying to avoid the areal pesticides and the fogging, farms, people, fragrances, perfumes, detergents, and have basically run for the Arizona New Mexico area in search of that one spot in the dessert where there is no one, because of my lung disease I cannot. MCS + ILD equals I cannot breathe anywhere so I am condemned here. He is by my side. I by his. We are called "The Dispossessed" "Canaries in The Coal Mines" I have machines trying to keep us alive praying that something will give, nothing has so far. Not only do I have MCS, IDL I have RADS, reactive airway disease which is an immediate reaction that immediately shuts down my respiratory system. As if that we not enough I have Inflammatory Respiratory Disease as well. Then I have some other 17 other conditions, many from this toxic exposure we continue to endure. If we could get out we would. Right at this moment I cannot. No where to go where I can be safe, he remains by my side. He could probably breathe outside unlike me, but his fate would be the same as me, we would both be poisoned by what is so common for others to do and use. Sorry if I was too graphic ! This is by no means the entire story. Just a glimpse The irony is that the same place that is killing us is also the same place keeping us safe !!! By becoming ill like this I realized and was awakened to the large amount of artificial damaging things we use every day. The sad part is while I got mine from mold, there are many ways to get MCS. All you need is prolonged low-level exposure, or one big exposure to a toxin and it does not matter if it man made or natural as mold is. As you read Kim got it from a gas leak, undetected for 2 years. There is no turning back once you reach a certain point after that exposure. Even sadder is the Doctor's ignorance, their inability to diagnose it. While the Government has known about this condition for quite some time, they have done nothing to make safer housing for us. Only one apartment building has ever been built to house people with MCS it is in California. Reason why there is no where to go. Most are now disabled and homeless on the run for their lives. I know right at this moment there is a woman in Ga dying in her car unable to find a safe place. She too is complicated because she has another condition I believe sacordoisis. You must run from your home as well because of what you used in it before you became ill. Pesticides linger for decades some indefinitely. Mosquito control calls me when they are going to spray, so I do not go out and hide. They do not spray my home and have placed a sign on my mail box that can be seen at night. However I am going to need more protection so I need a letter to block a certain radius around us. No other institution here has been cooperative at all. Do you have a problem with scents at all ? That is how I rolled down hill. I started with breathing problems with Clorox, from there it was down hill. However the list of symptoms is extensive because it depends n the individual and which organs it is attacking. If you would like a list let me know. We grew a lot of different things, shared as it was meant to be. We had fresh seasonings outside, roots, bananas, we never bought fruit, raised animals, camp fires, it was completely different then now. Much healthier life style and community oriented.
