Guest guest
Hello All, I am sorry I have not been around much lately. The friend who usually keeps everyone updated is not in here but those of you guys who do hear from her when I am not around the computer are free to share her updates in here about me and . We took back to the hospital by ambulance on July 20 and he is in his third room. He is severely malnourished because he was refusing to eat at home. They also found his blood sugar to be very low and have been giving him several units of insulin a day. He is having problems with pancreatitis and they had to take him to Ford Hospital in Detroit for an endoscopic ultrasound. Ever since then his lungs have been sounding awful and they are now giving him breathing treatments again. They were going to put a feeding tube in him today but have postponed it because of his lungs. Meanwhile, I have an infection in my heel and cellulitis and I am on antibiotics, pills for pain and inflamation, and one glyburide per day. I did get my test strips and lancets taken care of finally and it went through CCS Medical. I am still having problems getting enough of a blood sample on the strip. At the hospital I have been letting others do my testing with my meter and they can always get it with one poke, so I am still not sure what I am doing wrong. I sometimes take two or three pokes. I mostly am hanging around 180 to 209 or so testing two hours after a meal or just before it is time to take the medicine. It is kind of ironic that I have been dreading insulin and now they are giving it to . I really hope they do not have to put him on a ventilator again. Of course he would not be able to communicate with me at all if they did that. The good thing is that when I had that Dopler done they found no blood clots. The leg and heel really hurt and it is impossible to stay completely off of it with him in the hospital. They did say that if I would have gotten admitted they probably could have put us in the same room. So I stay some nights in a chair or a little bit on the other bed if there is no room mate. It is a little harder to control my diet when on the run so much. But I am trying. Lora Leggett
