Guest guest
Hi, all: I was very happy to find this group. I just read Intuitive Eating and it was as though it was written just for me:) As a dieter for most of my life, I am just starting out on the IE journey. It is very difficult to let go of the goal of weight loss since I have a significant amount of weight that I'd like to lose. When I first read the book I felt an amazing freedom, but putting it into practice is a different story - it is scary to give yourself permission to eat what you want after so many years of eating what someone else told you you should eat, followed by rebellion and eating whatever was in sight because I wasn't supposed to. After my first week of giving myself freedom to eat whatever I wanted (and overeating many times), I am now ready to begin to " honor my hunger " and " feel my fullness " while eating the foods I want to eat. Any suggestions and helpful hints from the group would be welcome. Tonight I left several bites of my dinner on my plate because I was physically satisfied, but it was very hard. I was proud of myself, but also feel kind of weak ... shouldn't it be easier to refuse a few bites? I'm sure many of you have felt the same way ... Anyway, glad to have this group to talk and share tips along the way.
