Guest guest
So glad you all liked the survival box idea as much as I did!! Someone asked about the grounding beads. I did not learn this from my therapist (actually I taught her and she loved the idea), so you're freed up on owing me another $140...hahaha....only kidding. I was taught to make them when I was in the trauma hospital in Washington DC. If anyone would like to personally email me: hummingbird1298@..., I would be happy to actually email you a picture of what they look like. I know sometimes it's easier having a visual rather than words, but I'll do my best to explain them. Remember this is for you, so use what you like and what's comfortable for you. I went to 's and bought regular beads for making bracelets. I bought glass ones of all different shapes, sizes and colors, but my favorite are green silky ones. You first make the bracelet with string around your wrist - you should have a regular round bracetlet. Hanging straight down from the bracelet is a long strand (about 4 inches) . On that strand, you will put different sizes, shapes, and feel of the beads. They make satin beads, glass beads, plastic beads and beads of various fabrics. At the very bottom of that long strand, you tie on something important to you. Maybe it's a cross. Maybe it's something else from your religion or belief system. Maybe it's just some really 'weighty' and soft that can help ground you. It's important to have the most weight at the end, though. Don't worry too much about size because it's probably not something you'll just wear around (it bangs on stuff, I've tried it lol), but I wouldn't make the end piece bigger than a half dollar. I know this is hard to picture, so I wish there was a way for me to send one to the list. I even gave one to my therapist and she said she uses it to meditate.
