This stresses me out! I know I've talked a bit about the "hungry" part, but the what I want part stresses me out too.

If for dinner, I want popcorn and my husband fixed a nice dinner, I will offend him. I don't want to do that.

If for dinner, I want popcorn and my family is expecting a meal, what do I do?

If for dinner, I want popcorn, do I sit at the table with a big ole bowl of popcorn for the whole fam?

What about at work? What if I don't have access to what I really want? How do I pack a lunch/snacks when I don't really know what I'll want? And then if I bring food and decided I don't want it, it's wasted. :(

What if I want a big meal, but don't want to cook?

What if I'm at home and want to make a ceasar salad, but don't have the stuff? I live 15 miles from a grocery store!

This feels irreconcilable to me...

I modified the "Eat What You Want" rule to "Eat what you want from what's available or what you are willing to get up and go buy" because there's no way I'm going to go out of my way to get something I don't have. I do promise myself I can have that the next time it's convenient for me to stop and buy it, should I still want it then. I don't have the answer for your popcorn question. I guess you'd eat it if you really wanted it, or better still, if your body really wanted it. Possibly you could make do with a serving of it, rather than a whole big bowl which would also allow you to eat the wonderful meal (or part of it anyway) that your husband cooked for you. I don't think putting a big bowl of popcorn on the table will work well for your family though. What if they don't want it?? If we should eat only what we really want, shouldn't they be able to? LOL! Yep, it does get complicated doesn't it? I do find sometimes, my daughter makes what she wants and I either decide it's ok for me but if it sounds like something I really don't want I just say that. Gee hon, I don't think I'm in the mood for that but i'll probably want it for lunch tomorrow. I think I'll just have popcorn tonight. I think you might be thinking about it all too much. Let food choices it be a joyous freedom!
