Hey guys,I am an in and out poster... I am working full time and finishing up my MS this semester so I get pulled away.... anyway weekend with my BF and a friend of his

and his friend’s wife. She is quite thin, thin in a semi sanctimonious way as

she eats quite heartily but has a metabolism that favors her with slenderness,

she mistakes that for moral righteousness rather than luck, which I have

noticed many naturally slender women tend to do….

This past weekend she

got to talking about some people “from the Midwest†who were “really fat so

their pants slid down their butts†and I could see the loathing, the prejudice

and the disgust she has of fat people. I also caught her body checking me

another time during that evening. She obviously has some preconceived notions

about weight that probably has a whole lot of self hate thrown in for good

measure. She might be thin but she is an ugly intolerant person...I am learning to pity people like this who have only half the story. I

am learning to see people like this in the same way people in the 50s said a

woman should stay at home, or wheelchaired people or learning disabled people

should be committed, or pick a race, pick a religion. It’s all about

misinformation and hate.

I think that people who still are mired in the diet industry

and the weight-hate mentality are a lot like people who discriminated against

other undesirables of earlier eras. Many of those people weren’t bad people

either… just victims of the prevailing attitude of the time so much so it

blinded them to the damage they did to others and themselves. Anyway, that’s how

I look at people like that.
