Guest guest
Does anyone know why a child might begin to have accidents after 6 weeks in diflucan? He has been toilet trained for over 5 years so this is very strange. He takes: OLE, Prozac, diflucan, LDN, methyl B12 shots, b bifidus an culturelle, vitamin D, Epsom salts baths, lugols iodine and berberine. OATs test for yeast was very high The school says he is refusing food and drink. Thanks for any and all wisdom!
Guest guest
I am not sure if it's related, but Jimmy started having 'accidents' at school from Sept to Dec. (We ended up taking him out of preschool - to which now he doesn't have any accidents) -- Stress I think was a major cause. (I don't think he liked his teachers and I don't think they really liked him either - and interestingly enough when he had a substitute, he didn't have an accident) When I started/upped his supplements with magnesium, calcium and zinc -- those accidents went away. (this was after I took him out of preschool.) From what I understand of these three minerals -- they help 'calm' the nervous system. These kids tend to 'burn' these particular ones up. I also found that he no longer had night time accidents. I tend to wonder if these particular minerals that help calm the nervous system also assist in helping the right message get to the brain -- that " hey, need the bathroom, have to pee. " -- as when I forget his supplements or he just refused them, he tends to have night time accidents. When he gets dehydrated, (flushed constantly) -- I also tend to make sure he gets potassium/sodium (in an apple/fennel (lo ox drink) or apple/carrot/celery juicer drink or coconut water (high in potassium) and celery juice.) I know that stress can burn these minerals up quickly...When I get the diet right, his supplements right, and he has enough water, sunlight, and exercise...his world is wonderful. I hope this helps. Google it. There is some pretty good info out there. laura > > Does anyone know why a child might begin to have accidents after 6 weeks in diflucan? Guest guest
how much zinc is ok to give? I have been giving the zinc monomethionine - 25 mg a day. Is this the most I should give? Guest guest
Thanks and Christel, Both posts are fabulous advice. I give him zinc a couple of times each month and if he starts putting stuff in his mouth. He had a period of extreme stress last year where I wish I'd known more. I follow both your posts- lots of good advice!( -you almost have me inspired enough to buy a juicer! I come from a long line of mediocre cooks. He has been taking himself to the toilet independetly for years so I knew this was physical. I documented his actions and showed the Dr the redness on the tip of his talywacker. Urine sample was positive for bacteria - antibiotics and he's already better. Here's the important thing: if UTIs go untreated, the infection will go into the kidneys and this is terrible. Guest guest
From what I understand you can give up to (I think) 50 mg's a day. That much made me uncomfortable, so I too give 25 mg's a day. I saw results within 3 weeks (he obviously was BAD..) I think going slowly (IMHO) is best so that you can observe better and make small changes. Because at the time, Jimmy could not communicate what was going on. So I had to rely on my observations. That being said, by week 3 I was ready to throw in the towel and try something else. It was then that we saw a " WOW " as he ate broccoli like an entire head of it. You know, with Rob (he's 26, and can tell me what is up) - we did 50 mg, and 60 mg every other day. You might want to call your DAN and see if you can do, 25 one day, and 50 the next... laura > > > > Does anyone know why a child might begin to have accidents after 6 weeks in diflucan? Guest guest
I've worked up from 25 to 50 mg's for over the past couple of weeks. (He's 5. 63 lbs) He still wont touch the veggies and still gags when he smells certain ones cooking. But over the past few days, he has been trying new things with success. He drinks almond milk now (wouldn't touch it in the past) and has been eating hummus as a chip dip. He tried broccoli and ran to the bathroom to hurl (lol). A couple days later he tried avocado, he didn't like it, but he did manage to spit it out without hurling. Baby steps here. lol. My new approach is to let them each pick out one new piece of produce each week to "investigate". We try it raw, juiced, cooked...and whatever else comes to mind. I think it feels good to them to choose and feel part of the whole process. They have been awesome about the dietary changes. Let's see how long it takes for them to turn on me....lol. A mutiny is but a cupcake away hehehe -Tammy To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Wed, February 16, 2011 7:55:08 PMSubject: Re: Two days of Urine accidents after 6 weeks on diflucan From what I understand you can give up to (I think) 50 mg's a day. Guest guest
Hey Grace! that's awesome. Juicing has been this little Godsend for us, because my kids wouldn't eat anything -- and it's a great way to introduce foods to our bodies. I drink what they do, and I feel the effects as well. I nurse Sam, and he gets about 8 oz of juicer drink a day. (4oz in morning around 7, and then again around 4pm -- so it doesn't interfere with our nursing sessions.) I introduced kale/pears. Then I did, carrots/pears. Then it was fennel/pears. (In the Baby Whisperer (she's an English Nanny) she said she always introduces pears first. So I just did what she did. ) Then a couple of days ago I saw Maddie feeding Sam her juicer drink. I don't know how much he got, but he missed a feeding from me. -- And now, I just give him what the kids get. Sam didn't like rice cereal, and he hated just plain pureed pears (just acted like he was gagging). When I introduced the juicer drink, he was very excited... The one that he got from Maddie had beets, garlic, onion, kale, apple (golden del), pear, lemon, ginger, celery, carrots, fennel and a little parsley. He not only skipped a feeding from me, but he slept for 3 hours, and woke up happy. You have to wonder if cranky babies, are just not getting what they need... I use Klaire Labs Infant Probiotic. http://www.amazon.com/Klaire-Labs-Ther-Biotic-Infant-Formula/dp/B001PYXMV4 The MB12 drops are raspberry flavored and are in my health food store's brand. It's just MB-12. I give him 5 drops in his mouth (they are supposed to go under his tongue..) I give him MB12 - because I am a known pernicious anemia case. When you are deficient in B12, and you are nursing, you need to be taking it to replace your stores, and add extra for your child. I also take (for myself) dessicated liver. (It was cheaper than buying it grassfed and organic!) I realized I was very low, got tested, and sure enough, I was iron, zinc, b12, etc. low, and it was due to some dental work I had done - as nitrous oxide depletes your stores. Since Jimmy and Maddie had issues, I figured, I would try to do it right with Sam...what a difference. I was also going to try CocoKefir (probiotic) as someone mentioned it was awesome. So, I am going to try that too. (for myself first, and then add it to all 3 kids supplements.) laura > > > > > > Does anyone know why a child might begin to have accidents after 6 weeks in > >diflucan? Guest guest
That is a great idea - make them a part of the process. I pack so much in a day that when they don't eat - because they aren't interested in what is being served -- I send them to bed with a 8 oz juicer drink that has everything but the kitchen sink in it. My husband said, " you know, when I was a kid (here we go!) I just went to bed hungry. " -- and I said " yes, and I when I went to bed hungry, my Mom was up at midnight making me eggs with bacon. " Jimmy would come to me at midnight lots of times complaining of hunger. I mean, really what are you going to do? Say, 'here's some water, off to bed? " give me a break - a 4 year old isn't trying to manipulate a situation at midnight, he's up, because he's hungry. Children need food. Not all days are going to be good, we went a very long time on very minimal...now, we are great,... baby steps! It works! Guest guest
Blue diamond. Yes, there is soy. and we do avoid soy to an extent....but we're picking our demons, ya know? They need their fatty acids and to be honest, (not that I like either choice ) but I'm more afraid of mercury in fish than I am of soy. So I won't give fish oil. I've heard all about the "safe companies". I respect anyone who chooses to and I know many people have seen great benefits from it, but something in my gut just tells me not to do it. We're working in efa's through oils, as well. But these things take time. My little guy is super sensory - especially with food. We'll get there.... Guest guest
I have noticed since going full tilt with gfcf and juicing again, that they ask to eat way less than they used to. I don't think its because they don't like their choices, but I think their bodies are nutritionally more satisfied. I have also noticed that I can't manage to get out of the dang kitchen! By the time one meal is prepared and cleaned up and juicing has been done and cleaned up, and breads and pizza crusts are made, it's time for the next meal. After all these years, my husband finally has me exactly where he wants me: Barefoot and in the kitchen. How did that happen?? lol To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Wed, February 16, 2011 10:00:59 PMSubject: Re: Two days of Urine accidents after 6 weeks on diflucan That is a great idea - make them a part of the process. Guest guest
ah, yes, and I hope not to get pregnant! lol! Yes, my kids eat a lot less too. My food bill stayed the same though, more on produce. And yes, I too tend to be in the kitchen a lot. Baking is my nemesis. I have spent hundreds of dollars on ingredients just to get mad and have muffins come out like rocks... I am the master at the ONE POT meal. I also use my crock pot a lot in the winter, and in the summer we grill. I keep my meals VERY simple -- because I too would be in the kitchen all day. My sister is a master at baking. Everything she makes comes out wonderful. Last time I had to make muffins for Jimmy's class, I made her stay on the phone with me for 2 hours while I attempted chocolate cupcakes. Now I just call her anytime I need to bake. (They came out great!) - I also put on my Mom's old apron for good vibes... laura > > > > > > > > Does anyone know why a child might begin to have accidents after 6 weeks in > > > > >diflucan? Guest guest
Not full tilt juicing, but since doing full tilt vitamins, my kids eat less.... which was already very little. The only meal my kids eat in hearty amounts are spaghetti squash w/ meat sauce.  I have noticed since going full tilt with gfcf and juicing again, that they ask to eat way less than they used to. Guest guest
Owens says that low oxalic acid levels on an OAT cannot be read as not having an oxalate issue, apparently it can just mean oxalate was not being excreted at the time. Guest guest
He had an almost complete turn around after just 2 doses of abx. Great day at school yesterday.I know I will love juicing. Thanks for promoting such a healthy way to give proper nutrition.Sent from my iPhone That is so wild...a UTI and no fever, not even a low grade? (as I would have *thought* that same thing) -- I so appreciate you posting that. I would have never thought as a boy he would get a UTI...as you correctly stated - 'it's rare.' -- Good going MOM! PS. Once you start juicing, you won't be sorry. I juice for my 7 month old too...he had fennel, kale, carrot and pear today...I don't think my other two saw anything but pears and carrots for the first year - and half the time they didn't eat them. Sam also gets a infant probiotic, CLO, MB12 and Vitamin D drops. He is happy and healthy... > > > > Does anyone know why a child might begin to have accidents after 6 weeks in diflucan?
