Digestion - Transit time Re: Re: Treating Reflux

Actually, the color of the stool can help you determine what the problem 'might'

be - a gray lumpy stool can mean a problem with the pancreas because the

pancreas makes bile to break down food. A light green stool is fast transit

and the bile didn't have time to turn the more brown color...too much liquid in

the stool can indicate not enough fiber in the diet. (or a bacterial infection)

....the list goes on and on!

Poop science... :)

Fast transit time doesn't necessarily mean they aren't absorbing nutrients...it

might just mean they have a healthy digestive tract, and it's just fast.

However, that being said, it's probably safe to assume there is some deficiency

or lack of absorption, and then combat it as best as you can.

The way I figured out that my kiddos weren't absorbing much, was that Maddie's

allergies were out of control. She was allergic to everything it seemed, and

Jimmy, well, was out in left field. As we got the nutrition right, the bad

stuff started to disappear.

My husband says I'm obsessed...it's not that...it's just it's a great indicator

of how to change your game up if it's not working. I always say, if your kids

eats a carrot, and you get a perfectly formed brown stool without carrot bits in

it, you're doing something right.
