Re: can't 'waste' food

I tried the same thing, and had the same problems. Don't like to waste, and

when it tastes good, it's still just way to hard to stop eating. It's much

easier for me to take a very small portion, perhaps half of what I *think* I

really want, and finish it and wait to see if I'm satisfied (more often than

not, I am!). I hope to one day get to the point of leaving food on the plate,

but I'm not there yet. And I figure in the meantime why torture myself

unnecessarily? Just makes me feel bad and who needs that?

Hello MJTrying to leave the 'clean the plate club' cannot always be achieved via forcing yourself. Of course it can be done, but it will cause tension. Another way to leave food behind is to allow the process of IE to filter through you. There will come a day when your full & recognize that fullness & subsequently leave food on your plate. Honoring your appetite will take you there faster than focusing on what your leaving before that fullness is recognised. You can also once you recognize fullness food wrap what is left for a snack later (food type willing). Do you feel that you either trying to do as many of the IE principles at once? or expecting too much from yourself at this stage? or even trying to jump to a IE stage rather than deal with other issues? If you make a big deal over leaving even a mouthful your making it very important to you, which it should be, but if it is built up within your mind then to not be able to leave anything or to forget will make you feel as if it is impossible for you to do, make you down etc. In time as you travel with IE food will naturally be left on your plate.
