Guest guest
Now thats interesting as the overwhelming majority have them turned down. I started turned up, used them turned up in hospital too. Then people said should be turned down. Now, I go back and forth sometimes based on the cannula, how it fits and how the air seems to be getting through. > > Turned up as per instruction from resp ther who instructed me on how to use equipment. > > > New poll for Breathe-Support > > > > Enter your vote today! Guest guest
Hi , When I have gone up in Leaders per min. I began turning my concentrator up on my own then called my Dr. because at 2L at the time, I felt odd and my legs would hurt and give out so I went up to 3L. I called my Dr. and she said that was fine. We have to listen to our bodies. When we need an increase we usually know we are having a hard time breathing. If your long muscles are bothering you when your on your feet, you need to check your oximeter and you will probably find an increase is needed. Don't be afraid of 02. When you need it you need it. If you don't use enough the other organs in your body will suffer. Don't let it go below 90 ever...God Bless you. Guest guest
No, it didn't really, but if what you're doing works, see no real reason to change. Now it seems to me that some of the cannulas fit better one way and some the other. I keep trying to figure out if I get better flow either way but can't. I certainly feel the flow more though with them turned up. I found this interesting because most people have just found or been told a way and I think have no idea that others are doing it opposite. I've actually looked before to see if I could find anywhere on line instructions one way or the other from a supplier. > > > > Turned up as per instruction from resp ther who instructed me on how > to use equipment. > > > > > > New poll for Breathe-Support > > > > > > > > Enter your vote today! Guest guest
Peggy is talking about which way the prongs of his cannulas are when he says " turned up " . Although your advice is still quite good. > > Hi , When I have gone up in Leaders per min. Guest guest
Peggy I was getting horrible sinus headaches with the ones I had before my VATS and had them turned up. Thanks for the reminder. Now, I don't know what Cannulas those were, just glad I've never had them again. I normally have mine down. But definitely feel more air flow when turned up so sinus headache is very logical. > > B, when I turn mine upward, I get a sinus headache. Guest guest
Peggy I found out that is what it took several months ago. I was having problems breathing and once I got the meter I started turning the flow up. I guess the real scare is that I keep turning it up. Feels better short term but then that long term looks shorter. The anxiety is where I had the biggest problem this weekend for some reason. I second the comments 'I hate this damn disease!' While not commenting often, I get a lot from this site and particularly enjoy your input. Thank you for the help and support. Guest guest
Fay/Peggy I think there is some fright in every time one turns it up. I think of 10 as sort of the maximum and so as I get closer it does give me pause. I know I've had to turn mine up periodically all along. Now, I'm finding certain activities, there just isn't enough oxygen for as I drop to the same or close to it regardless of flow. So, those are becoming " don't do anymore " activities or at least very close to it. Right now I can stay just on the safe side of 90 doing them, occasionally bouncing in the upper 80's but I know that very soon I won't be able to on those activities. Most of them involve bending and lifting combined with walking. > > Peggy > I found out that is what it took several months ago. Guest guest
Peggy I have a call into the doctor now and I think it is time to discuss this with him. I really do not want more med but want to be able to function too. It is hard for me to tell what is me, the disease and normal without help from those here. Thank you very much. Guest guest
Fay I've been on Wellbutrin for 12 years now in one form or another. We're not sure whether or not it helps me now but not about to find out by stopping it. No other psychiatric med works for me at all although they do for many others here. Of course I do and always will get counseling on a regular basis. In our previous poll, around 70% of the people here suffer from depression. Why wouldn't we? I'm amazed at the 30% who don't. I did before the disease but the disease by itself is enough to cause it. > > Peggy > I have a call into the doctor now and I think it is time to discuss this with him. Guest guest
Zena It is funny that we've all received them and most of us never told by anyone which way to put it in. They just say here it is and assume you know. > > > > Turned up as per instruction from resp ther who instructed me on how > to use equipment. > > > > > > New poll for Breathe-Support > > > > > > > > Enter your vote today! Guest guest
Turning the cannula up is something that hadn't occured to me. I've just been fiddling and I think I'm more comfortable with them down, but it's certainly something to remember if my nose is blocked.
