Hi everyone,

Well, I did it, I signed up for Hospice today. It took 3 hours but it wasn't so bad. A little rough when I had to sign the DNR paper and that I didn't want any ventialitor. My brother, husband and daughter were here, so was a Social Worker. They are going to pay for some of my meds, that will help, get me a shower chair and a portable wheelchair. I'm not going to the In house Hospice place yet, I'm not at that stage, I will still be at home. I did ask her if she thought I was ready for Hospice and the nurse said yes and so does your dr. On a scale from 1 to 10 for "at risk" whatever that means, I'm a 7. I did pretty good, I took a Xanax before they came, I cried a few times but I wasn't too bad. Gene took it really hard. Him and my brother didn't like the fact I made myself DNR. BUt....I agreed to be buried, as my daughter brother and husband all said they want a site to go to and my brother wants me to have a headstone. I am truly blessed yanno that...:) Oh and....they are getting me something to help me sleep at night and putting me on a pain patch in addition to my Vicadin, also adding Adavain for my nerves even though I'm already on Klonopin, Prozac and Xanax. One thing that mademe a little nervouse, she said in about 2 weeks I will be going on Morphine. I said I dont wanna sleep all the time, she said this is just for emergencies, if I have a really hard time breathing then to take a little , I guess it helps with the breathing. Anyways, I think that's all, I'm whopped but I wanted to keep you all posted. I love you all.......

Vicky... it sounds like you have come to terms with what is next. I think you are very brave honey, to accept DNR now. That is not an easy decision but I understand from our private talks your reasons for accepting where you are.

Hospice certainly sounds soothing and welcoming. Any I have seen are that way. Usually, any special personal items can be brought in as well.

Is this close to your home? Again, usually, a family member can visit at anytime.

Have you a time when you WANT to go to Hospice?

Since we have talked privately and you write this on board, I'll say I am praying that this turn towards Hospice is God's Way of gently transitioning you. You know Vicky, where you are and if it's time, then it's time.

I love you and I wish I could be there to hold your hand. I am in spirit. We all are. I remember when you joined the board. Talk to me privately anytime you want, talk to us on the board.

I welcome your prayers for Zoë. I continue to pray for Gene and .

My love always,

MamaSher, age 69. IPF 3-06, OR.Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there!

Hospice

HI everyone,I'm sorry I havent been keeping up with everyone, just having a lot of pain and shortness of breath. I talked to my dr and he agreed, its time for Hospice so....they come Friday at 2pm to sign me up. I'm just so tired and worn out, and most of the pain I'm getting now is from my heart and my blockage. So, I will enjoy whats left, when it's time for me to go, my brother said he will let you all know. Thank you for being the best bunch of people I have ever met. I love you all.....Vicky81856 MI IPH/PF COPD Hammond Rich Syndrome 4-06

Vicky,

Oh honey, you are so brave. I know that you don't feel brave, but you are. I hope you will stay here on the board on the days that you are able. Would your daughter post for you?

Always know that you have meant so much to me over the last couple of years. We came a long way since then. Miles and miles. My prayers are with you always.
