Guest guest
I'm very new to IE... I'm also very committed to this because it just makes so much sense. Makes me think of that saying about insanity... doing the same thing over and over and over, and expecting a different result. Well that was me prior to IE... one diet after another, pounds down, then more back on.... it's just nuts! So in my first two weeks I've been learning, reading, and have been listening to my hunger and full signals as well as I can at this early stage. I can tell even now that it will only get better and easier. In looking over some of the posts I'm seeing dates ... some going back to 2006. It made me very interested in how intuitive eating has changed you and how long you were following this method before you became completely comfortable with it. I'm in for the long haul, I feel that this is right for me. I personally have noticed that I feel a true sense of freedom (yay! no more dieting!) and peace... blissful peace. I am a plus size woman and do hope that once my body is ready it will release some weight, but for now I am just loving the way I feel. And, my relentless night eating urges have truly decreased... in 2 weeks I only had 1 night that i just wanted to get something when I wasn't hungry. That's big... for me Huge! What's your experience been? Have you been doing this for a long time ? What's the very best thing for you? Deb
Guest guest
Deb, We're very glad that you're here! So true...so true...intuitive eating has brought such a profound sense of sanity into my life. I know how to take care of my unique body in a way that I never could have imagined. A health issue involving my digestive system shutting down once a month since I was about 10 has completely resolved it self. I had been chronically overeating most years since I was 4 years old. When I learned how to honor my hunger and fullness, I began to eat in alignment with my bodies needs and now I don't suffer from that particular ailment any longer. I made a radical commitment to my body in this process. I have allowed my body to lead and supported it's natural regulatory processes. I had a fair amount of emotional eating issues to work through. I felt good from the beginning of IE, similar to what you're describing and it only got better. A few months ago, I discovered that my body had released about 33 lbs since I started this journey. I hit a new comfort zone after about 2 years into my practice. However, your experience will be unique to your body. There's a lot of great wisdom, insight, and support that has been revealed over the years that this group has been in existence. Some of us more seasoned folks encourage new members to do keyword searches using the search feature to tap into the collective wisdom on this group (i.e., keywords like hunger, night eating, etc.) I shared most of my beginning journey on this group. Now, I write more on my blog at: http://www.transformativeeating.com/ and in the IE Long Haul group. When you're ready, we'll welcome you to that group as well.
