Guest guest
Get someone to read the nutritional information. Note the carbohydrates in particular. Sherbet does have a fair amount of sugar, but it's lower in fat than ice cream. FYI, 15 grams of carbohydrate is roughly equivalent to a slice of bread. Dave " ...In this world you will have trouble. Guest guest
In a carb guide I have it says a half cup of orange sherbet has 22.5 grams of carbs. The vanilla ice creams they list have fewer carbs than that. Guest guest
No, not at all. Simply allow for the carbs. If your serving of sherbet has around 23 grams of carbs, we'll say that's about a slice and a half of bread. So, if you want some sherbet for dessert after dinner (supper for some of you) cut back on your other carbohydrates like rice, or potatoes or whatever. Now, if you're planning on some exercise after you eat the sherbet, this brings in some additional factors to consider. And whether you are a type 1 or a type 2 also is a factor. If you are a type 1, insulin dependent, you can take some additional insulin to cover a few extra carbohydrates. Exercise is often a great way to burn off some " fun " and if you're able, plan your dessert with this in mind. Dave " ...In this world you will have trouble. But take heart!
