Hi all -

I just arrived back in the SF Bay Area on Tuesday. I was prescribed oxygen by my pulmonologist just before leaving Raleigh, NC. I've contacted Apria this morning and they should deliver it this afternoon...hate to have to use it, but know it will ease my difficulties.

Question: What kind of 'carrier' or oxygen do you all use? At the pulmon. they used a small tank on a wheeled cart...but that is heavy to lift into the car/minivan. I also have an Rx for a 'portable unit' for travel...don't know what they will send.

How much 'say-so' does one have about the type of oxy. dispenser you get? Which are easiest to use, etc.

Any information will be appreciated. And I just had a call from Apria and they will deliver one of the small tanks with wheels. The doctor's Rx for the portable unit wasn't 'worded properly', so they will FAX a script with the correct wording to my doctor here in San to take care of that.

wish me luck!

Joan

I use liquid which is not generally a choice Apria will give you. But,

for getting out and about most use small canisters with shoulder bags

and then use E-tanks on carts at times. Most here have concentrators at

home.

I use liquid at home...have a reservoir. I also use liquid portable in

the form of a Helios Marathon.

As to travel, most of the time with Apria it needs to be scheduled well

in advance but they do have travel portable concentrators.

By the way, do you have insurance that requires Apria? Or why did you

choose them?
