Guest guest
Well handsome (HEY, if you say I AM YOUNg, i say you are handsome right ? ) wink wink I have had my share of mishaps: because of my small fingers I use a track ball and I LOVE ut, but I drpped the thing so often and the ball would take off in its own direction and then OF COURSE I cant find the ball. Walmart: Husband calls me " cafre al volante " which loosely translates as " wild woman at the wheel " beacuse i get in that cart and sideswipe aisles and displays... fortunately no pededtrians !! ________________________________ To: blind-diabetics Sent: Monday, December 5, 2011 8:06 PM Subject: RE: maybe OT BUT ... Hi Lavanda, Well Young Lady, it is really sorta like this: What you see from us is kinda like watching the Waltons and how perfectly they rise to the occasion on TV. What you don't see is us pulling our hair out trying to find the blamed item we just dropped on the floor and heard it roll somewhere under something. You don't get to hear much about the times we manage to boil the pot of spaghetti all over the stove top and down the front onto the floor. You also do not get to hear about the times we have looked all over the house trying to find the coat we stuffed somewhere in a chair. I'll bet you don't hear much about the times we have found ourselves completely turned around and lost in a Wal-mart and, of course, there is not a single soul within a thousand miles to lend a hand or ask if we need some help. We all have frustrations just like you are bound to have and we all get discouraged from time to time but, I promise you, just hang in there and it will, eventually, work out and you can laugh about it. Welcome LaVanda, I have been totally blind for over 34 years due to the diabetes. I learned braille then and relearned to type on a regular keyboard. When computers came around, I learned the computer keyboard and now do most of my record keeping, emailing (of course), writing of letters and storage of recipes etc. on the computer. I use braille mostly for labeling things such s spices and medications. I never was a very fast braille reader, so never read books that way. If you connect with your local State Dept. of Rehabilitation, they can help you learn all these skills.
