Guest guest
Kate, Sounds like you did perfect! Good for you for eating pie when you wanted it! Your body will make a wide range of choices when you have truly legalized eating. I bet that if you ate consciously and didn't eat past moderately full that maybe you felt hungrier, earlier, today? Congratulations on your success in waiting for your hunger. Best, Abby Glad I'm not the only one feeling this way. I did well today. I was determined to wait until I was hungry before I ate. Like you I think food does taste so much better if eaten when you are hungry. I just don't get hungry that often and I like to eat. It took me basically all day to get hungry enough that I felt like I could eat something (more than a few bites) and feel comfortable but not overfull. I did eat a lot last night, but then today just had coffee this morning and at about 7:00 pm I was nice and hungry. So I had fresh baked home made apple pie with a bit of ice cream. It was just right. Not the most nutrious but it was what I wanted at the time. Tomorrow maybe I'll want veggies. I also suspect I will be hungry earlier in the day tomorrow too. We'll see. Guest guest
I waited fro my hunger today as well. I ate both breakfast and lunch a tad later than I normally would but I found myself eating less. I just have to be mindful of eating moderately, that is my downfall. But today has been a success. Have many of you lost weight on IE? My goal is to lose about 10 pounds. I am so sick of dieting that I truly hope this lifestyle change is my answer. Guest guest
I'm so sick of dieting as well. I find IE is freeing. Eating when hungry and what my body desires. I have lost weight. As long as I follow my hunger/full. The past couple of days I've gotten off track. Back on track waiting for hunger. Glad I'm not the only one feeling this way. I did well today. I was determined to wait until I was hungry before I ate. Like you I think food does taste so much better if eaten when you are hungry. I just don't get hungry that often and I like to eat. Guest guest
Hi Alecia... I've been IE'ing for about 3-4 months. I stopped weighing myself so don't know if I've lost... I don't think I have. But... all my clothes are still fitting the same. I am so much more relaxed, happy and accepting of myself... things aren't perfect... I still struggle with my image here and there, but compared to how I was when I was dieting... it is SO much better. Hopefully as time goes on, I will see evidence of weight loss, but for now I am happy with feeling better about myself and getting off the diet roller coaster. To: IntuitiveEating_Support Sent: Mon, September 27, 2010 3:12:37 PMSubject: RE: Re: Waiting for Hunger I waited fro my hunger today as well. Guest guest
it's also been almost 3 months for me since starting ie. i'm so grateful to be off that diet roller coaster too. it's been ages since i've even been tempted to scan the grocery store shelves at the checkouts for the latest greatest promise of "quick weight loss" diet (right next to the decadent chocolate cake picture, of course). i'm thinking that it's a sure sign of progress. i've maintained my weight, too, i think. i'm still weighing in once a month. just haven't been able to give it up yet. my clothes are all fitting me still so it's a good sign that things are going well & i'm so much happier being able to eat anything that i want when i am hungry. today i just let that dark chocolate melt in my mouth ever so slowly & it was like heaven. now if only i could stop at satisfied instead of full it would be even better. but it will take time, i know.mjTo: IntuitiveEating_Support Sent: Mon, September 27, 2010 9:00:31 PMSubject: Re: Re: Waiting for Hunger Hi Alecia... Guest guest
That is very inspiring... thank-you for sharing!!To: IntuitiveEating_Support Sent: Tue, September 28, 2010 10:28:56 AMSubject: Re: Waiting for Hunger For a while, I was doing very well with IE and lost about 20 lbs! I felt so free and liberated from constantly obsessing about food and dieting. A great part of the weight loss came about due to the fact that I stopped binging once I gave up on dieting and decided to give myself unconditional permission to eat and eat intuitively. That probably saved me hundreds of calories everyday! I also started to move and do physical activities that I enjoyed. In the past, I used to say: oh you have to do an hour on the treadmill, burn this many calories, etc... and have very rigid workout routine because I was only motivated by weight loss. Even though I loved exercise, by doing this, I made myself hate to do it. So once I started intuitive eating and started to learn to trust my body, I listened to my body and did the workouts and activities that I felt like doing. Some days I would swim, some days if the weather was nice I would get inspired and go out for a walk, other days, if I was feeling really energetic and happy, I just put on the music and danced around in my apartment. I found myself not only finding a taste for healthy foods, but also really enjoying physical activity. I had never felt so good about myself and so happy in my own skin. I didn't weigh myself until my doctor's visit and couldn't believe that just living my life according to my terms and eating and doing the things that I enjoyed helped me lose 20 lbs - I had never weighted this low as an adult! Sadly, I got very sick soon after (had nothing to do with IE or exercise) and was out of commission for a few months and totally lost my balance. Now, I'm fully recovered and trying to find my way back to that balanced, happy and nurturing lifestyle. > > > > Hi Kate..... > > > From: Kate <t.kate87@> > > > > To: IntuitiveEating_Support > > Sent: Thu, September 23, 2010 9:14:43 PM > > Subject:... >
