Well if you are bored and you know it just think to yourself I will really enjoy that granola bar even more when I am hungry. Eva

I really want to eat a couple granola bars right now (Fiber One Oats and Chocolate ones are my favorite). I'm sitting on the couch, BORED and feeling mentally blase from working on various assignments from my computer, thinking thinking thinking. I'm not hungry really at all, but boredom plus food is my go-to combination? What would an Intuitive Eater do?

Get up and do something else--anything else. Go for a walk, make a pot

of tea, clean the bathroom. Anything that will distract you for a

while. If you're still thinking about that granola bar after a while,

eat it, but really pay attention to how you feel about it. Is it what

you wanted? Needed? Does it taste good?

If you are bored, relieve the boredom! What would break up your boredom? A granola bar will only last a minute and then you will be bored again.

I keep reminding myself that food doesn't really taste that good when you are

not physically hungry. You can have a perfect match if you wait to eat a food

you are actually hungry for. Those words slow down my thinking at least....

I know when I'm bored and wanting to eat there is a deeper reason. Can you just

sit and deep breath and get in tune with your body and your emotions? Feel

where you might be feeling some tension? Determine exactly what emotions are

going on that you might be wanting to bury with food? Trace those emotions back

to the first time you felt those feelings? And then turn it around by talking

lovingly and kindly to yourself? Maybe ask yourself what you need to take care

of you? Just some suggestions.
