Unfortunately I think BPDs like the idea of becoming foster parents - it gives

them something to complain about, they get to " fix " another child into what they

believe a child should be etc etc. My mother has said numerous times that she

would like to be a foster mother - thank god she never did.

I cant say Ive seen this sort of behaviour tho - it sure sounds creepy...

just staring at her, silently, in a " scary " way. For like half an hour.

I think that is really, really creepy behavior, myself.

I haven't experienced this personally from my bpd/npd mother but at another

Group I belonged to (for those with bpd relatives or chosen relationships) one

of the posters mentioned that her new husband started going into his

step-child's room and would just stand there staring and staring at the girl

while she slept for what seemed like a very long time, to the poster.

The poster said her daughter (like your foster daughter) would wake up sometimes

or otherwise became aware that her step-dad was just standing over her bed and

silently watching her sleep, and she didn't like it, it creeped her out, it felt

like her privacy and personal space was being violated.

Big Red Flat: He forbade his step-daughter to lock her door, on top of it.

The member of that Forum asked whether it was OK for her daughter to lock her

door at night (!!?)

With almost one voice, we other members chorused a loud, " YES! Tell your

daughter that she MUST lock her door at night!! "

I went so far as to suggest that that was abnormal, possessive, predatory

behavior on the part of her husband and the member needed to protect her child

by setting a strict boundary regarding her daughter's right to privacy and that

if he violated it, there would be very severe consequences.
