Guest guest
That sounds like a wonderful experience! I watched Oprah yesterday, and let me tell you, I was THRILLED that it sounds like Oprah has finally latched onto the IE way of thinking regarding food. I have thought all these years that if Oprah caught on to this, it would do wonders to dispel the dieting mentality and propel the IE philosophy forward. I am glad that before she retired from the Oprah Show, that she finally got this message....very important. You'll have to share with us your experience when you hear Geneen Roth speak! Also, Oprah mentioned that Geneen Roth would be on her show in early May - forgive me, can't remember the date, but I want to say it was around May 12th. I am going to go hear Geneen Roth speak this wkend in Chicago. Producers from the Oprah Show (although not Oprah herself) will be filming there! Also in May, May will be speaking in the Chicago area. She has written 2 books. One is an e-book. I'm going to go hear her too. FREE EVENT! I'm excited about these prospects. Both women (including Tribole/Resch) have FB pages that I follow. Guest guest
That's awesome you are seeing Geneen Roth! Even living in the Bay Area as I did until a few years ago, I never did see her live. She was only in Santa Cruz, not that far from where I used to live. I'm really excited that this Oprah thing is happening, I just hope she doesn't do any harm to the movement, like find another new, greatest thing that has solved all her weight problems. I honestly don't think it's a good idea for her to be claiming the battle is over, like she has no issues with food anymore. When someone thinks they have it all figured out and they will never go back to the same behaviors, I worry. Everytime I said "I've got it, I'm never going back" when it came to any diet I was on or even early on in my IE journey, it always came back to haunt me. I prefer to say that I have come a long way in my journey and I have really made lots of progress. I won't say "I won't ever overeat again", that's not true, but I have really great tools and skills now to deal with it when it happens. Anyway, hopefully Oprah will stick to this path, there is no one who could spread the word better. May actually has a second print book out. It's called, "Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat". I haven't had a chance to read it yet but it's been getting good feedback. You'll love 's presentation, she is a great speaker and makes it very fun. I've taken her facilitator training for Am I Hungry and I also co-wrote the Coaching Companion Guide to Am I Hungry with . We wrote the guide to help coaches apply coaching techniques and skills to the Am I Hungry program when working one-on-one with clients. For those who don't know, her ebook is called, "I'm Not Hungry, Not What?", which was a follow-up to "Am I Hungry?" and deals more with emotional eating and how to overcome it. Please let us know how Geneen's talk is, it's really good to see her out there again! The last I heard from her, she was writing about how she had been a victim of Bernard Madoff, and what she had learned from the experience.
