Guest guest
Old post, but I think you're right. When I began to restrict for the first time in my life, I would end up on peanut butter binges. Always at night too, because that's when the deprivation overload from the entire day would kick in. I found it odd. I had always liked PB, but it was also a food that was just kind of there as well, like any other food and I could count on one hand the number of times I would normally consume it in a year -- not much at all. I never had to have it like I had to have it after a day of restriction. I thought it was because I had cut out all chocolate (my favorite food in the world, but what I thought to be the most dangerous/forbidden) and PB was the closest I could come to it, so...binge. At my lowest point, I really believed that I had no choice but to ban PB due to my " lack of self-control. " Since starting IE and legalizing chocolate, I haven't touched or wanted PB since. > > > > Hi Ruthie, > > > > I'm glad you found this site, and I hope it can help you find > peace > > with food. Guest guest
I am so with you on the PB binges. When I was getting out of treatment, I would come home at nght andbinge on PB like it was the only thing in the world. I got to the pint of eating half of it and putting windex on the rest and throwing it away. Then the next day buying a new one. So a lot of money was spent on PB.I also got to the point of buying one at a convenience stoire and not buying spoons and sitting in the car and eating it with my fingers..gross..I know what else have I done? Oh I know.bring it home, label it with the date I open it and then check if it could last 3 days. Now that I am completely recovered, the PB jar has been at home since Jan 15th...not even half eaten...and I am pregnant! I love the taste but I know what to do when a binge thought attacks > > > > > > Hi Ruthie, > > > > > > I'm glad you found this site, and I hope it can help you find > > peace > > > with food. Guest guest
My absolute favorite is peanut butter on one side of the bread and butter & honey on the other side of the bread - yummy comfort-food sandwich for me!
Guest guest
One of the reasons I thought I needed a change from my restrictive mentality and needed to try IE was after I ate a jar of almond in two days (it was after one of my periods of eating nothing for weeks and it just tasted so good). It was the natural kind you store in the fridge and I would chip off big shards, salt them and eat them- delicious. It's one of my favorite parts about IE- actually letting myself eat nut butters and not being afraid of all their calories and fat or feeling the need to obsessively measure them. Favorite PB combos ever (on that chewy whole grainy wheaty bread): PB and agave nectar PB and raisins (normal or golden, sometimes with a little agave or honey as well) Also PB on carrots and celery, PB mixed into savory soups and spicy curries, salad dressing from PB and lime juice I <3 PB > > My absolute favorite is peanut butter on one side of the bread and butter & > honey on the other side of the bread - yummy comfort-food sandwich for me! > > > > > ________________________________ >
