Standard routine when first diagnosed

Okay, one more question for anyone recently diagnosed with either t1 or t2. I'll

assume you first observed some symptoms, perhaps extreme thirst and frequent

urination. This would be more applicable for a t1 I guess. Maybe your doctor did

blood work and noted a very high A1C.

Would you mind writing off list and telling me how you first learned you had

diabetes, and what happened next? For the purpose of a writing project I'm

working on, it doesn't matter if you learned later that the instructions from

your doctor weren't correct.

Were you told to see an endocrinologist? A certified dietician? Did your doctor

get you started on some kind of " standard " regime of meds?

IF you were diagnosed as a t1, when did you first learn about the option of

using a pump?

Here's the address to send any replies to:

Thanks very much!
