Guest guest
Hi Katy: WOW! Thanks for sharing your discoveries about how your body tells you that you're getting full. I've also noticed that 'fullness' cues don't come from my stomach until I'm obviously full. So I also value those mouth cues that tell me the food no longer tastes fantastic. I also notice that my thoughts turn from how great the food tastes to other things, like what I'll do after the meal. I may even begin to think about how much more I can eat until I feel obviously full, because I know disinterest in the food's taste means I'm already satisfied and getting fuller. SUE > > So I’ve been struggling with the whole “stop when you’re full†part of IE for a while now.  But this week, I think I’ve made a bit of a breakthrough and thought I’d share. If I rely on cues from my stomach, I miss them completely. But I noticed that partway through a meal, eating starts to become more work, not as easy as it was when I began the meal. Or sometimes halfway through, I find I need to add more salt or pepper or parmesan cheese to make the meal taste as good as it was to start. It hit me †" these are my body’s cues that it’s done.  My stomach won’t catch up with my mouth for a while, so I have to pay attention to the mouth cues. Granted, I haven’t practiced this much yet, but the times I tried it this week, I felt full but not stuffed if I stopped when I realized the food was less enjoyable and more work that it was to begin with. Will keep practicing and update later… >  > Katy >
