I feel like, unfortunately, we each got to this place with IE through a very deliberate journey. And as " normal " as it feels to us, or as we hope it will feel to us eventually... it helps to remember that this is actually quite a radical path we have chosen! Deciding to not base our self worth on our size or appearance is WEIRD by the majority of Americans' standards, or least, by white Americans.

So remember you are making an unusual (and awesome!) choice, but that most likely, no one else is going to make that same choice just by hearing you talk about it... they have to hit their own version of diet rock bottom, first.

That said, I feel like you can absolutely make boundaries that respect where you are, and that honor YOUR IE journey... you just can't expect anyone else to join you there.

" You know, I decided to start trying to be content with this weight instead of imagining me at a different weight, and I'm surprised at how much happier I am. " (Just say this and don't respond to her fantasies)

" I promised myself I would never diet again, and I love how that feels. I feel healthier than ever. "

" You know, talking about diets makes me uncomfortable. I love you, and me, just the way we are. Would it be okay if we talked about something else? "
