Welcome ,I can relate to lots of what you're saying and I'm also only about 3 weeks into this. No more diets! I really believe we've found the answer here. I think this support group is a great source of daily motivation. I look forward to more posts from you. Hi, I'm new to the group. I started doing Intuitive eating about 3 weeks ago. I have been slowly workign through the book Intuitive Eating and coupling it with Thin Within (the non christian one written in the 80's). So far, I have been doing good finding my hunger, getting better at not going past satisfied. The two books seem to compliment each other. I can feel I have lost weight and my husband says daily I am slowly shrinking. I was really nervous about trying IE, but I am at my heaviest weight ever. Last summer I got desperate and went on a week long juice fast followed by a strict vegan diet and lost 20 lbs, then I regained those 20 plus another 20 over the next 9 months because I couldn't stay on that nasty restrictive diet. Then I tried cutting sugar, which was depressing. I did a low carb years ago, and got so sick I ended up passing out in a public parking lot. I did a IE type program called Weigh Down in the 90's, but the guilt involved was terrible and I lost weight by basically "giving my last bite to God", but I don't think I got it because I reverted to just eating very small meals, ignoring my hunger and starving the weight off. I don't want to do any of the above again. I can't tolerate another diet and I can't stand the thought of starving again. So far, this is different. I don't skip my hunger and I eat when I feel hungry. I am dealing with the fact that I am not always hungery when others are eating, and I hit satisfied when I still just want to keep eating. In other words, I understand the mechanics, but I need to make it a habit and work through alot of the emotional stuff tied up with food. After 3 weeks on my own, I think it is time for some support.I'm looking forward to being involved in this group.
