I always wondered about those rat studies. LOL. Shoot, if they fed me that

much of anything in that short of a time I would surely die! LOL.

Kroger has their own brand like Crystal Light and they have some different

flavors. My favorite of the Crystal Light is the Iced Tea Peach.

I have a Brita pitcher in the fridge and better start drinking more of it

again. I was doing so well this summer and have gotten lazy about drinking

several glasses of water a day. I am not sure it has to be 8 but I want to

get it up again.

Wow! I haven't had Sprite in a couple years at least.

I just keep forgetting about it.

From what I've read about artificial sweeteners like saccharin, NutraSweet

and Splenda, they're all bad for you. That's why water is my main drink

from now on.

Re: New to the list

I always thought diet soda or pop as we call it tasted weird and it had an

after taste. But I have found the cola is not too bad and the ginger ale is

good too. Around the Detroit area we get Vernor's and its diet one is not

half bad. When was in the hospital they had a real small can of pop

in the nurses' station called Shasta I think. I can't find it in the

stores. Of course in February and March of last year I had the regular

because I didn't know I was a diabetic. But when he went back to the

hospital in July I asked them for the diet one and it was good. These were

8 ounce cans of pop I think or 6, they are like regular pop cans but half

size. But I get the Vernor's or the Faygo in the 2 liter bottles and I can

make them last 3 or 4 days, where before I was going through 1 to 1 1/2 of

those big bottles a day of regular Big K or Faygo pop of various flavors.

No matter how far off the wagon I get I have never gone back to that since

becoming a diabetic, or at least finding out.

That's probably the biggest thing I did for my health and for my finances.

They were only about 80 cents when I got Big K but I had so many of them.

Now some weeks I forget to tell my brother to get it and I just make Crystal

Light and have a little milk or chocolate milk. I know it is never going to

be as bad for me as all that regular pop day in and day out.

Yeah, so the key is to cut back from drinking 150 gallons of diet Coke each day

for 10 years. Limit it to a can now and then, and my guess is you're going to

die of something else.

Gee, I have been using artificial sweetener for all the 67 years I have

been diabetic and have never had any of the effects various articles have

said these sweeteners do to you. I have never used a lot of them.
