Peggy,

Thanks for sharing that info. I have been saying I was allergic to Cipro for 10 years or more after a reaction where my arms and legs ached badly for five hours. In March, I was misdiagnosed with pneumonia (it was PF) and given Levaquin. I vomited, had a high fever, and my leg muscles hurt for about five hours. Doctor wanted me to take more next day because I didn't have a true reaction....a rash. I managed to find one so I wouldn't have to take it again. After looking this group of drugs up on the good old internet, I found huge amounts of information and support groups of people that had been messed up by this group of drugs, "floxins". In people like me who are suseptable to a reaction, they continue to do damage long after the drug has been taken. I'm even wondering if some of my current problems are related to the Levaquin and not my immune diseases or meds. I know that both Bruce and Joyce take Levaquin with no apparent problems. I

will scream bloody murder if someone ever tries to give me one of those drugs again!

,

I think you hit the nail on the head.... some can take Levaquin or Cipro with no apparent difficulty. I'm one of them. I've been on Levaquin several times and had no problems at all. Others should kick and scream and spit it out if someone tries to give it to them. If one takes it and has any type of muscle pain, they should stop taking it, and tell the doctor to find a new antibiotic.

Part of the problem is because of the increasing resistance of bacteria to antibiotics doctors are forced to resort to stronger and more toxic drugs to do the job that things like penicillin used to be able to handle. It's a huge problem especially for folks like us who are prone to respiratory infection!

, I did a round of Levaquin  a few months ago and didn't have a problem but I totally paniced for Joyce. I know she is on it now. I called her. While I'm here, Welcome to all the new peeps. I am so sorry you had the need to find us. We are a bunch of sickiesthat have become an "AIR FAMILY" You'll understand that more as time goes by. This group has kept me going whenI didn't think I could. God is my strength this group is in my heart. We have some serious problems going on right now so help us pray. Bruce is a true mess. LOL we love the smartie. We had a get together in San Tx the first of May. He is such a HUGGER. (gotcha, B.) There are pictures in the photo section from the home page. Oh how I want another group hug and meeting. Elise and Medications

We all react so differently to medications. I've had some wild and

extreme reactions to some others take with no problem. Then I take some

without reactions. It also changes over the years.

Funny, when I was given Levaquin (injection) in ER plus a prescription,

I could not wait to get home and on here to read what reactions others

had experienced. I'm in the hospital and I want the board for

information. But I got here and did a search on levaquin using the

search at the top. I found thrust mouth common so I was prepared for

it. Had I experienced anything else, I would have immediately called the

pharmacist, doctor, or whoever available, or, if severe, gone to ER.

Also, I am adamant about not taking anything anywhere without them

telling me what it is. I was in ER over my elbow in NC and I think the

doctor was shocked when the nurse aide brought meds around and I refused

to take them until I discussed them with the doctor (the nurse aide

couldn't explain their purpose and exactly their nature). When I was the

hospital after my biopsy they tried to substitute for some of my daily

meds and I refused. On one, I got permission to take my own and the

other I took my own until the next day when they got some. I'd been on

both those meds for extended time and knew very clearly one they tried

to substitute didn't work for me plus I reacted to it.
