Guest guest Posted May 21, 2002 Report Share Posted May 21, 2002 Hi , When I took diamox I started at at dose of 125 mg per day for a few days, then increased to 125 mg twice per day. Eventually I was supposed to increase it to 250 mg twice per day, but I developed phosphaturia (cloudy urine due to phosphate crystals), which is a risk factor for kidney stones, so my doctors took me off it. I had an increase in urine volume immediately after starting, so I'd say it starts to work right away. I have also read that it acts quickly. To find goo information on the web, do a search in Google for " acetazolamide " (the generic name). Hope this helps.
