Mark, they're still good. I'd chuck them if they were a year old probably, but

certainly not a few weeks, or even a couple months.

You'll eventually develop a 6th sense. Most of the time, I'll have an idea where

my bg should be. Maybe low, maybe high, etc. If I had outdated strips, I'd keep

using them, but if I got a spurious reading, or perhaps after a few questionable

readings, then I'd be suspicious of the strips.

What should I do with out dated strips?

Prodigy tells you there strips are only good for 90 days, even though the

bottle says longer. so if they say they expire in March of this year, does this

mean they are no good? I would think if they work, then why pitch them out.

my doctor said that you can use strips that are 6 months past their expairation

date. Otherwise, pitch them.

Hi Mark, speaking of, Prodigy, I'd like to know if, you or, anyone else on the

group has ever used the Prodigy AutoCode meter? And if so, how accurate was it?

Thanks,

I believe that is the same meter I have. the prodigy voice. I took my sugar

with it and the saw bones meter seem to both be close enough that I think it is

a good meter to use and easy for us who can't see anything.

She was asking about the auto code and not the voice. Both are made by the same

company. but I think meters made by the same company can vary as to how accurate

they are. the best way to find out is to take your meter when they draw your

blood. When I used to get my blood drawn at the hospital lab they would pipette

from one tube and put a drop on the strip for me. Then the doctor could see what

my reading was then check to see what the lab test said to see how close they

were. I have not done that with the autocode I have. I just got it a couple of

years ago so would have to wait several years to get Medicare to get me a Voice.

I don’t have any suppllemental insruancde, just Medicare.

I would talk to someone at your insurance company and have your doctor write

an authorization for the Prodigy Voice and he could explain that you need it

so you can test by yourself.

Hi ,

I bought my Prodigy Voice and it was about 80 dollars. I just did not want

to go through a lot of mondky shines with paper work and hassle. But I did

get the test strips covered finally with CCS Medical

What happens to strips that makes them go bad?

Also, my meter has no clock or calendar as far as I know. It has a USB port

but that won't work without software that I haven't been able to obtain.

If the AutoCode is covered, the Prodigy Voice can be covered. They use the same

strips. You need to educate your insurance company. Otherwise this is classic

discrimination. As a vision impaired person, you need a fully audible meter, of

which the AutoCode is not. So, call them and tell them about the Prodidgy Voice,

and give them a phone number, and web site.

Your meter does have a clock and a calendar. You just aren't able to access it.

All meters need to record the time and date of the test.

Hi Sara

My name is Sugar, and I've been useing the Prodigy meter for several years now,

and absolutely love it!

It has been right on and though there has been some falsies it's not a big

difference, maybe 3 to 5 points off, but on an average, it has been right on

with my doctor.

I really don't like the solo that much,*my two cents* only because the function

keys are on the back with little buttons that I need a small point to

set..unless it has changed.

and the prodigy functions are easy to handle on the front.

well, like I've always said to each one and their likes. I am just thankful and

greatful that there are such " talking " meters to assist us..smile

Good luck.

Buttons on the back, sugar? LOL

No, the Solo v2 has its buttons on the front. Maybe the one you're thinking of

was eitehr a prototype or some other meter.

The chemicals in the strip deteriorate after a certain period of time.

Usually this time is late than the expiration on the strip container, but

they put that date on so they won’t get used too mch past the expiration

date.

All meters have time and date in them. The one you have is not accessible.
