Guest guest
Mark, XL means extra long acting. Have you seen a change in your BG since you started on the glipizide? Metformin makes your liver decrease the amount of glucose it puts out and glipizide makes your pancreas make mor insulin, so you have to careful takingso you will not go in a low BG. _____ From: blind-diabetics [mailto:blind-diabetics ] On Behalf Of Mark Ruth Sent: Saturday, March 03, 2012 12:59 PM To: blind diabetics Subject: HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THESE DRUGS? Guest guest
Mark, I think the Glipizide is a pretty standard treatment drug for t2's. My wife takes a small does of it, and she is reasonably healthy. Guest guest
Mark, You'll learn to " feel " a low blood sugar, or hypoglycemia, but the best thing to do is check with your meter first. And you don't need to use glucose tablets, although they're a good idea to have. And they're very handy for when you go out. You can use any type of sugar, such as grape juice (my preference), or even orange juice, or plain old sugar if you want. The easier the food can be converted to glucose (most sugary foods), the faster it will begin working. Guest guest
so far I have been on the Glipiside pill since Thursday last when I got out of the hospital and my sugar still hasn't dropped under 215. I had to go back to the hospital again early this morning at 2-30 for another racing heart. by the time I got to the emergency room the speed had came down from 180 to 120, but my blood pressure was still to high at 180 over 110. they didn't keep me this time and sent me home after they gave me a bag of magnesium. they said they like it to be 2 and mine was 1.4. one of the problems is I will wake up from a deep sleep and my heart rate will start to increase. I'm starting to think that maybe I feel the stress and I panic. they did tell me that the stress of so much heart problems can cause more stress wondering if the other shoe is now going to drop. I'm thinking I need to find me a support group here in OKC of other folks who also have the same heart issues I have. I think talking to others about the A fib and the rest can only help. my heart doc said to not get excited when the heart starts to go faster. he said to wait a bit and see if the meds in my system will bring it back down shortly. I did wait for a little bit last night, but I didn't wait long enough. It's hard to not be concerned when your ticker is traveling along at close to 200 and not wish to call 911. for some crazy reason most of the A fib and racing heart always happens during the night. starting to make me not wish to go to bed. will I guess it is what it is and that is that! Guest guest
Mark, My heart has not raced quite as fast as yours, but it does, I sit up and make myself take slow, deep breaths and make my mind concentrate only on the slow breathing. That way I don't think about anything else and it slow the heart down. Did they talk you about putting in a pace maker? _____ From: blind-diabetics [mailto:blind-diabetics ] On Behalf Of Mark Ruth Sent: Sunday, March 04, 2012 12:33 PM To: blind-diabetics Subject: Re: HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THESE DRUGS? so far I have been on the Glipiside pill since Thursday last when I got out of the hospital and my sugar still hasn't dropped under 215. Guest guest
so far I haven't heard anything about a pace maker. my Momma had A fib and we ask the doc about her getting a pace maker and he said that wouldn't help her. I got the same heart doc my Momma and daddy both had. I have used the deep breaths before in the past and it does help. don't believe it would help the A fib, but I know it will help the racing heart. thanks. HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THESE DRUGS?
