Guest guest
Just a couple of thoughts/question - is it fear? or could it be sensory? The water might seem very noisy now, it might feel different on the skin as might the hot or cold. Also with the shots we found for the first few months there was a definite up/down cycle of emotions and abilities of, lets say the first day vs. the third day when it was time for a new shot. b12 shots will open up a lot of new feelings, abilities. Might be over stimulating, or over whelming i.e. scarey? We do get still this from time to time with different interventions. Also are you giving folinic acid with the shots, for absorption? make sure. Best wishes. > > Hi guys! > > We just bathed our son and he is showing behavior we haven't seen it before - he is literally afraid of water. When we tried to pour water over his head, he started screaming uncontrollably. He never likes his head tilted, but this behavior is beyond him. The same happened last week, but I didn't pay much attention, thinking he is just tired, but today it happened again and makes me wonder. The new things we started recently are Mb12 shots (started a week ago) and medications for yeast (Nystatin - 3 weeks ago). Any ideas? I feel very confused, because he loves playing with water.. > > Thank you, > Dovile >
Guest guest
The same thing happen to my daughter and after putting two and two together we found out it was the epsom salt. I stopped them but it took her a couple baths to trust us again. She would get in the tub and stand and cry..I used a cup and would pour the water over her back and say it's ok it's ok and that helped. We also have a a detachable shower head and I would use that and she would be fine. How I found out it was the salt was because although she didn't like to be in the tub she did twice come jump in the shower with me fully dressed so I knew it wasn't the water. Then a couple days later my nt 3 year old cried when I was going to put it in her water..she said that it hurts..I don't know why... I thought it was a good thing but my kids can handle it. Anyway after a about 3 weeks of earning back her trust she took a bath tonight without a problem. I don't know if this helps but I figured I would share just in case. warm wishes, > > Hi guys! > > We just bathed our son and he is showing behavior we haven't seen it before - he is literally afraid of water. Guest guest
I'd love to hear the input from this question. My daughter won't go in the bathroom while the water from the bath is running but will stay in the tub forever. She hates getting her hair washed; I believe the sound of the water is too much. Guest guest
It could be the sound/feeling out water getting in her ears, too. My son got swimmer's ear last summer and he his super paranoid now. It hurt terribly. To: "mb12 valtrex " <mb12 valtrex >Sent: Tue, February 22, 2011 6:54:42 AMSubject: Re: Afraid of water. Guest guest
Doville,This, for our son, was a sign of PANDAS. He swims at least 30 minutes everyday so it was a major crisis. After several months of exhausting every behavioral intervention, Dr ran ASO titer and found elevated strep. Treated with 1 course of abx. We have had glimpses of the condition returning in the past year, especially this fall. We began giving him OLE and have been able to make it so far without another major issue.I have heard others on the board mention the same "water thing". So weird, I know. Mine loves water too. Can find it in a desert. We used to call him the divining rod...There are other parents on this board- and I think of first, but there are others who have a really good sense of how to manage PANDAS. Hope they chime in..,Sent from my iPhone Hi guys! We just bathed our son and he is showing behavior we haven't seen it before - he is literally afraid of water. Guest guest
Thank you to everybody who responded. I read a lot of emails on this board, so my first thought was PANDAS too..oh, well...I will have a consultation with our DAN next week, so I will definitely let her know about this behavior. But I also hope that my son is still adjusting to the shots. Someone mentioned it has to be with folinic acid in it and ours are. Dovile Hi guys! Guest guest
The nystatin is grown on a strep See http://www.drugs.com/pro/nystatin-oral-suspension.html Withdrawing this med from our routine has allowed strep titers to decrease significantly. > > > > > Â > > > > > > > Hi guys! > Â > We just bathed our son and he is showing behavior we haven't seen it before - he is literally afraid of water.
