Guest guest
Carolyn - coincidentally she is a Maltese - she is five months old and her name is Milla. She is not actually mine, she belongs to the two young Saudi girls I help look after. But she thinks she is mine!! She is gorgeous, but even small dogs are quite a lot of work. However, as we live in a big household there is always someone else who can help if I am busy! I have worked for this family for 18 years now, which I still find amazing. I went out to Saudi in 1982 on a one year contract, thinking I would be luck if I stuck it for 6 months! and here I am! I was originally nanny/English teacher, but now I am dog babysitter/trouble shooter/companion/translator whatever!!! But thy are extremely nice people and look after me (including paying for my not inconsiderable medical costs!) and if I am not well I can take it easy. The girls are 20 and 24 respectively. They are like my own daughters now, I love them dearly and couldn't leave even if I wanted to!!! When I was dx one of the docs in Saudi said what about retirement? (I'm 57 now) and I said why would I retire from a job I enjoy, where I live in comfort (even luxury) travel the world, and go and live in a small appt. in a cold country (I'm English) with not enough money! He said, well, when you put it like that... Actually as I said in an earlier post I had my first ear flare in Maui - such a waste, I spent 5 days in absolute agony and totally missed out on the beauty of the island! It hurt even to walk. I haven't had such a bad flare since I have been on metho, though. My ears are just a bit red and sort of bumpy round the rim. I have an increasing large hole in my septum, but at least that doesn't show! I get hoarse and croaky very easily and I get asthma attacks, but because my trachea is slightly narrowed from the rp I get stridor and make awful noises like a baby with croup!! But again this has not happened recently and I am much better since I wasx dx. I can breathe pretty easily most of the time. I am on 20mg metho, 50mg Imuran and have got down to 4mg pred (I'm bragging, perhaps I should shut up - I tend to ramble!! Take care of yourself, Love Liz __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Lix, 5 months old and 4 pounds. I think she's going to b e just a touch smaller than my Chaco. Hearing about a Maltese puppy makes me want to dig out the video my friend made of him when he was small small small, But then I'd probably start crying. Enjoy! Aren't Maltese great -- I was extolling their virtues a few days ago -- no shedding, not too bright (not quite bright enough to get into trouble -- although, I dunno 5 months is right about adolescence time for them). When I was better Chaco and I used to go the nursing homes so he had to learn some tricks because some fo the residents don't do too much. Each trick took months to learn but once he got , he got it -- especially if there was hot dog involved which he only got when we went to the nursing homes. Boy he loved to go there. He learned bye bye, kiss, shake, off (where you put the treat on the floor and they wait to eat it until you ssay it's ok -- actually more of a safety thing), dance -dance.,etc. I sure do miss him and hope you're enjoying " your " Milla.
