Guest guest
Hi and welcome to the group. IE isn't really any different from anything 'new' to us - it takes time to get acquainted with all the 'stuff' related to the new thing (in this case IE). Plus think of IE like learning to dance, paint or any other undertaking. You first attempts may be uncomfortable and awkward, but if you keep at it, you will find that you can master some of the skills soon and others later. Its NO RUSH, nor is there any 'right way' to worry about following. Just keep telling yourself that this is the 'way' back to how your body was meant to eat - to satisfy itself. And NOT others and their expectations, ideas etc. ehugs, Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > Hi everyone, > > My name is and I just read Intuitive Eating over the weekend and am giving it a shot (starting yesterday). I have dieted over and over again and always end up back where I started. I really want to make peace with food and exercise. > > I started by allowing myself to eat foods I've restricted for a long time, and by letting go of " rules " around them (only eating certain amounts or at certain times). The problem right now is that I am NOT eating them in moderation. I still feel like I've been deprived for so long that I'm just digging right into these formerly forbidden foods at all times of the day. > > Will I eventually even out and be able to eat these foods in moderation? > > Thanks and glad to be here! > > >
Guest guest
Yes! Lately I've been thinking in terms of shoulds and shouldn'ts...been trying to be totally vegan. If I just allow myself to be 90% vegan, I'm actually so much happier! Got some brownies in the mail as a gift, and have been eating one an evening (4 in the package)...and then feel shame. It's so silly!!! So...working with that. Thanks all for being here!
Guest guest
Shame for ONE brownie?!? Good for you to see how silly that is. Tell the diet police to button it up - you are listening to your OWN (inner) voice these days. Keep up the good work. ehugs, Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > Yes!? Guest guest
The longer I stay out of dieting mentality the sicker I realize it is, this is a recent exchange my friends had on facebook: ok this is a facebook exchange from a friend of mine and other people she knows: my friend: I’m tired of having weak soup. I want something like a yellow thai curry dammit. That would clear out this crap, but leave me no room to eat anything else today. Boo. (meaning “I am sick and should eat soup that makes me feel better but then I am dieting so I can’t) Friends response: U can eat carrots or fat free strawberry/acai jello the rest of the day with a side of ice water! ; ) (even though your sick don’t you dare leave your diet, don’t listen to your body TELLING you it wants and needs warm curry) My response: you can work on being thinner another day. today work on feeding your sick body and nourishing her. I hate this society and how it has made women so insane they wont eat even when sick. so sad for all of us. Guest guest
Soooooo familiar! We've all said these kinds of awful things to ourselves. I feel like I've been set free by IE and will never commit this kind of abuse against myself again! It's great to have this community. Guest guest
Hello Your at an important stage, keep eating - go with the flow of your own needs. Your subconscious is being told it does not have to be deprived any more, in time it will tire & you will slow down. Have patience & enjoy eating without guilt. Guest guest
Thank you for this. It means a lot!I've been eating lots of food the past few days...probably because of making myself nutty. I hope that I'll get better with this...today had 2 muffins as breakfast (they're fairly healthy so that's okay, homemade), then pizza hut buffet with dessert, then dinner included a donut, and THEN a brownie an hr ago. Ugh! Tomorrow's a new day!Amazing that when the diet police depart these issues won't be so bad. Better get to another chapter of the IE book...but no one has responded to the questions I proposed for the last chapter!!!Cheers, My response: you can work on being thinner another day. today work on feeding your sick body and nourishing her.I hate this society and how it has made women so insane they wont eat even when sick. so sad for all of us. Guest guest
Good for you - you are on your IE journey now for sure. Guess what - there will come a day when you just eat, no counting or thinking 'good/bad' about the food you select. Read on dear and go your IE way! ehugs, Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > Thank you for this.
