Cheryl used him. He helped her child. He is a micromanager, I guess would be the right/nice words. If he finds out you are doing biomed, and he WILL find out, he will let you have it.I want to try antivirals if the homeopathy doesn't help my son... but I will use a DAN who doses frequently, and not use Dr. G; I am not a person who can handle confrontation.

If you search the archives you can find good and bad stories about him.I never met him... I just know the good and bad I have read on here.Even Marsha with the boy in college says that Dr. G can be hard to deal with. And she sings the praises of his protocol all the time.

Hi, I was pretty much planning on going to see dr goldberg but since then was told that many from this list have had bad experiences with him. I am totally confused and do not want to make a mistake.

Are there any here who could share their experience with me? Or can anyone direct me to those who have had a bad experience?

Thank you!

Dr Goldberg is very experienced with the treatment of some set of the kids (lets call them antiviral responders) - he likes to monitor the kids & is very attentive to detail which is probably seen as negative as he doesn't want parents to medicate or give supplements when he is changing the dosage as one wouldn't know what is causing what. You would get the best out of him if you confront him, challenge him & ask questions which is largely a positive I think if you believe and are involved in your kids treatment - he is unlike some doctors who will let you drive the treatment. The con maybe that he is

follows his protocol rigidly & does not go beyond and try something else out like several doctors do. He also medicates (may include strong drugs like SSRI) which does not gel well with everyone & some kids don't react well to it. I think some DANs do prescribe 5HTP (which is the precursor of SSRIs).You can get more info on nids.net & an on facebook and youtube (they will be mostly positive parents experience).Good luck to you.To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Sun, February 27, 2011 3:51:07 PMSubject: Re: Trying to Decide About Dr Goldberg

It amazes me this Doc gets a bad rap,he was a little difficult when his wife had

cancer. Who can blame him. He is totally compasionate, but totally against

supplements that he has proof on NeuroSpect cause harm. Make your own judgement

Sally,I disagree that he has proof the supplements cause harm. I could be wrong but I don't think he has done a spect of a kid before they had supplements, and then after they did... since he is against supplements... so any spect he had after a kid had supplements would not be valid unless he had a before picture.

I am not trying to start anything on Dr. G. I am merely pointing out that it's his opinion that the supp cause problems based on non-scientific proof. I base a lot of my own opinions on non-scientific proof, so that's fine... it just doesn't make something " proof. " KWIM? :-)

Our experience has been great. Our son made major improvments when we switched to his protocol... we were pretty convinced immune/viral were his major problems... he has responded very well to the protocol.

Dr. G is a micromanager it is true... however, I have found it to be very helpful (I did not like feeling like I was the Dr with out any medical training)... and he has always been very willing to explain to me his reasons... I kind of took a leap of faith because what he was saying made sense to me... I have been very happy that I did.

If you want to know more about him or his protocol, you could look on utube for him speaking or get his book "the myth of autism" or go on his website www.neuroimmunedr.com ... theres lots of info on him out there.

Quite honestly, I don't care how his bedside manner is (though i think its ok)...I care about the fact that he has been studying autism/chronic fatigue/ etc. for a long time, and knows a lot about immune dysfunction, viral infections, yeast overgrowth, inflamation in the body/brain, food allergies/intollerance... and that he's helped my child.

Just one persons experience.

dr g does not have the best bed side manner however the nids protocol may help some kids who fit the profile. my son was with him 3 yrs and we didnt see much results; until we quit the protocol. he then became better. my son is the one in a million kid that does not do well on meds. my mom has same problem (she's 75). i say give it a try. if you see results, deal with the bed side manner. just be forwarned, he poo-poos every protocol but his own. and you may have to listen to his rants about other docs doing harm to our kids (at least he was like this 8 yrs ago). maybe he's different now-a-days). again, it may just work for you. give it a try.

dr g believes most of our kids have an autoimmune condition. he's pretty correct on this. this is what he treats mainly. his website can explain it much more than me. after reading, if what he is talking about matches your child somewhat, worth trying. neuro immune dysfunction syndrome

After five years of DAN and spending over $250K on biomed alone including two

stem cell treatments and owning our own hard chamber, Dr. G gets our vote! We

only regret not starting with him first!

Thank you everyone for responding! You are an awesome group! For now, my

husband and I have decided to take our son to our family dr and see if he will

run the nids panel, but most importantly, see if my son is viral. I always

ignored that since he was never vaccinated but according to dr goldberg, he

still could have a virus.

I am pretty excited about the valtrex too! I will want to do an anti fungal

too. I am sure I will be posting some questions!

Keep in mind that often the viral panel is negative and the child does not show

titers until several months of antiviral therapy.
