Guest guest
Glad to hear you are doing better. It really is a pain the have to stick yourself repeatedly. _____ From: blind-diabetics [mailto:blind-diabetics ] On Behalf Of Rick Alfaro Sent: Tuesday, March 27, 2012 8:53 AM To: blind-diabetics Subject: Much better success obtaining blood samples I had posted previously that I had constant issues with obtaining enough blood to get an accurate reading. After the discussion on this list a few days ago regarding lancing devices and lancets, I decided to try some different ones. I was using the Acucheck Multi-click device and corresponding lancet cartridges. I had a few different devices around so I switched to the plain old lancing device that came with the Prodigy originally. It uses very generic lancets obtainable from any drug store. I was thrilled to see that using this device and lancets, I'm able to obtain a really good sample on the first try almost every time. Once in a while I have to give it a second poke, but not very often. It does hurt a little more but the more accurate results and the fact that I don't have to take several stabs at it each time is well worth it. Just thought I would mention it here for those having the same issue. Best, Rick
Guest guest
Hi rick, this is good news. Are u using a prodigy voice? I am getting one in a week or so and want to know if i will be able to use it with good results. Right now i have the prodigy autocode and i can never get enough blood on it, infact it says blood sample is not enough. Guest guest
Hi Yes, I’m using a Prodigy Voice. In fact it’s a new one that was just sent to me to replace my old one that would not work with the newer strips. I’m definitely having much more success with this one. I find it to be way more sensitive to the blood sample and got even better results when I stopped using the Auto-click lancing device and lancets. I’m simply using the lancing device that originally came with the Prodigy meter and generic lancets, and it’s been doing great for me. Good luck, hope you have the same results. Let us know. Guest guest
I have the Prodigy Voice and the lancets that I get from CCS Medical and the device that came with my meter. I have to poke and poke sometimes and it always says Low when it means I did not get a good enough sample. Guest guest
Lancet devices wear out. I wear mine out within a 90-day prescription period usually, so I get a new one with each new shipment of strips. Guest guest
Really? How do you know when it is worn out? I have had mine a long time. Maybe I should ask CCS Medical to send one when they send my strips and lancets in April. I just never thought about it. Guest guest
Because I can tell by the way it pokes, or doesn't poke. If I find I need to prick a finger several times and it's not drawing a bead of blood, this is a sign. Once in a while, they actually break. Guest guest
Thanks for telling me that and I wonder if that is why I have to repeatedly poke. I just never thought of that. It will be a year in June and I just have my first one.
