Guest guest
I see nothing wrong with 90 my self, but the folks who know best will need to fill you in on the facts. I like a red beer now and again, but don't partake as I once did. What's the scoop on alcohol and BG Every once in a while I like to relax, watch a movie and have a glass or 2 of either Scotch or Bourbon on the rocks. I thought I read somewhere that Alcohol didn't really affect blood sugar very much but was curious what the real story is. I had a couple of drinks of Scotch last night, and my BG this morning was 90 which seemed just fine to me. Any thoughts on this? Guest guest
I am told that alcohol will cause the glr to go down. I don't know for sure, but I do like a glass of scotch or burbon now and then.
Guest guest
Hi Rick, I know we are all different, and we all react differently to drinks, but the other night we were celebrating something, and i had a couple of glasses of white zinfindale and when in the morning my bg was 100, so not to bad..smile sugar " The LORD is my light and my salvation - so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? Guest guest
If a diabetic does not eat anything with a drink, and he/she drinks more than 2 glasses of something, it will depress the liver and prevent glucogon from going out into the body when it needs the xtra sugar. Often, it you eat something while drinking, it will not affect you that wayas the carbs and fat from your food will still be into your system. _____ From: blind-diabetics [mailto:blind-diabetics ] On Behalf Of Harry Bates Sent: Saturday, March 17, 2012 3:04 PM To: blind-diabetics Subject: Re: What's the scoop on alcohol and BG I am told that alcohol will cause the glr to go down. Guest guest
Is that your ormal BG Rick? Or is it usully higher. Alchohol will lower your BG usually if you don't eat anything with it. But this is more true for type 1 rather than type 2. _____ From: blind-diabetics [mailto:blind-diabetics ] On Behalf Of Rick Alfaro Sent: Saturday, March 17, 2012 12:44 PM To: blind-diabetics Subject: What's the scoop on alcohol and BG Every once in a while I like to relax, watch a movie and have a glass or 2 of either Scotch or Bourbon on the rocks. Guest guest
Yes, that's been pretty much normal for me since I've been doing the 10 units of Insulin before going to bed. It's usually between 80 and 100. When I do drink my Bourbon or Scotch however I almost always have snacks of some kind to munch on, usually pork rinds or beef jerky.
