Guest guest
DS(alomst 6 years old) is down with a flu. Has very high fever and a horrible sore throat. I was wondering whether I could give him some theraflu but the label said it is not safe to give it with a Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor (MAOI). He gets Namenda and Lamictal and I don't know whether they contain MAOI. Can anyone tell me which OTC flu medications and cough syrups are ok to administer along with Namenda and Lamictal? Thanks in advance. Best regards, Arpita.
Guest guest
I'm so sorry your son has the flu. I wish I knew the answer to your question. Perhaps you could call the doctor? In the mean time, I recommend high doses of Vitamin D3 (I would do more than 10,000 IU's and give it to him with fat like avocado or fish oil because it is fat soluble and better absorbed with a fat source). I would also suggest Vitamin C, Zinc and Oil of Oregano. I hope he feels better soon. Also, if he has a very high fever, this may be an emergency situation. Please call the doctor. > > DS(alomst 6 years old) is down with a flu. Has very high fever and a horrible sore throat. Guest guest
Arpita, -- if you don't know, call. I wish I knew, I would tell you - sickness is awful...positive thoughts your way... in the meantime... My Jimmy had a high fever last week, and I put a 2 X 2 Patch of 2% iodine in between his shoulder blades, and that seemed to work on the fever(and I also put him in a bath)...lots of fluids. Coconut water is great for electrolytes (I think it tastes like crap, so I do 1/2 pineapple juice and 1/2 coconut water plain O.N.E, brand) Sore throat use colloidal silver (spray) in throat, and this will sound weird and odd, real salty potato chips. The salt helps with the sore throat. (and it's an anti-bacterial) -- if you are low ox, I am not sure what to substitute. Does he like chicken soup? Things like garlic, onions, chicken, carrots and celery (and little fun rice pastas) with a lot of salt helped my little guy. He couldn't taste how strong it was... Today he's got a little cough, but he was out and playing... If you juice, carrot/celery/fennel/apple is a good one. Hang in there... :)laura > > DS(alomst 6 years old) is down with a flu. Guest guest
Arpita,Namenda balances GABA and glutamate. I don't think it qualifies as an MAOI. But please ask the doc. If you haven't called yet and it's out of hours, just call his answering service. That's why they have them :-) PS How is your son doing on Namenda? DS(alomst 6 years old) is down with a flu. Guest guest
DS did show some benefit from Namenda but not a whole lot. Nothing's been a WOW for us. > > > > > > > DS(alomst 6 years old) is down with a flu. Has very high fever and a > > horrible sore throat.
