Guest guest
Girlscout, I would do an art project, reading, choosing a skit, music, props everything. Here's my scenario; Select several skit ideas and let the kids chose, perhaps even according to groups. Create; paper mache heads using balloons. These are to be the characters painted up. Put them on broom sticks. Fabric " clothing " hangs down loosely covering child. This way the kids are hidden add props or hanging sheets and they get to be fully egregarious as their characters. They learn lines, their parts, chose music. Invite everyone to the show! Sue ..

Guest guest
I was lucky to have a wonderful teacher in primary school who used to go nuts with art stuff. We turned up at achool one day to find she had constructed a " dragons lair " in the back of the class out of crepe paper, cloth etc. It was magical. You could do a similar thing, with them all having to make the mama and baby dragons, knights helmets out of papermache, paint themselves knights standards " flags " and suits of armour, swords from cardboard, a couple of princesses to rescue, hobby horses - and take portraits of the kids in front of the dragon they have captured that their parents could print and frame. Or turn the back of the classroom into an underwater theme and everyone has to make fish to hang from the ceiling, and a shipwreck. They could make the big diving helmets and have pics taken of them prentending to scubadive or wrestling a blow-up shark/crocodile.
