what's with this? child over 13 yrs? never heard. i have always deducted my sons medical/therapy bills. there is something special for being over 13? do tell! :)

There are a couple of exemptions you can take you just have to make sure you take the right one : i.e. One for disabled taxpayer, one for disabled child over 13, etc. and deductions that can be taken due to diagnosis.

I believe you need to be on disability through SSI.

There are multiple disability credits: disability credit (taxpayer status), dependent disability (goes along with child/dependent care), disabled status, etc. Just figure out which one suits your situation. These deductions are on top of with regular medical deductions, etc.I was audited and the only problem found was an incorrect w-2, none of my deductions, credits were a problem because I had receipts, medical diagnosis, etc. SSent from my iPhone
